The Team You Will Join
The Medical Underwriter is the professional responsible for making decisions concerning the possibility of accepting processes and determining the capital, rate and conditions under which they can be accepted. The underwriter will join a team of 8 underwriters focused on Individual Protection.
The Opportunity
The Underwriter ensures that the insurer's mortality rate does not exceed the assumptions made by the Actuarial Department. The Underwriter contributes to the purpose of MetLife through the prevention of anti-selection, ensuring that the accepted risk is included in the Mortality Tables used to calculate the tariff, thus helping us to maintain competitiveness.
Success in this role requires you to be able to work under pressure, utilizing office Tools, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. The Underwriter is responsible for a high level of proactivity and problem-solving and is continuously improvement-oriented. You’ll collaborate closely with Sales in an environment where every contribution is respected, and every perspective is heard.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Analysis and management of Underwriting applications
- Clinical analysis and discussion with the medical team
- Professional, Financial, sports and travel analysis
- Administrative services related to and/or supporting the functions, reports, request for additional information from the client.
- General correspondence expedient
- Functions digital archives and sending processes to external archives
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Written and spoken English (C1 minimum) and Portuguese
- Underwriting experience
- Educated to degree level or above
- Ability to work as a part of a team
- Strong communication and relationship skills
- High level of proactivity and problem solving
- Continuous improvement oriented
- Able to work under pressure
- Office Tools knowledge – Excel, Word, PPT
What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)
- Previous experience in the insurance market or insurance formation.
