As Lead Communications Strategist, you will be part of the team that provides strategic communication support for several Executive Leadership Team members in MetLife’s global functions. Collectively, the team helps many of the senior-most leaders of the company carry the company’s story forward as they engage their teams, attract and retain talent, and drive business outcomes.
In particular, you will serve as a business partner providing communication counsel and strategy to the HR Leadership Team and HR Center of Excellence leaders as they tell MetLife’s story internally and externally, advancing key priorities for Human Resources at MetLife. Our Human Resources team focuses on creating a purpose-driven and inclusive culture that brings out the best in our people and helps them deliver on our purpose of building a confident future for all.
You will drive communications fostering a sense of engagement, belonging and purpose among HR associates and the entire MetLife workforce. You will bring HR initiatives to life through creative and engaging employee campaigns and communications. And you will work closely with HR and Communications leaders on executive communications. A key success factor will be the agency to look across communications for synergies and to streamline messages to employees.
In addition, you will help design and execute internal and external communication strategies for other global function leaders and initiatives, flexing as priorities demand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development and execution of strategic communication plans on enterprise-facing employee initiatives and programs around talent, career development, benefits, employee experience, and more
- Collaborate with the VP of Communications to serve as a strategic advisor that will help senior leaders across HR achieve business objectives and drive employee engagement with the ability to flex to different leadership styles; write executive communications.
- Develop and implement media relations strategies to advance the priorities of the company and global functions.
- Partner with additional global functions as business priorities demand to develop and execute internal and external communications that drive business objectives
- Champion and secure buy-in on communication approaches that increase engagement, alignment and consistency of message

- Collaborate effectively with others at all levels within the organization; lead cross-functional projects
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- Broad set of strategy, program development and execution skills
- Proven track record of successful media relations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to flex to different styles and formats
- Proven ability to instill confidence and earn credibility as an advisor and deliverer to partners and senior leaders
- Proven ability to skillfully push back and challenge the status quo
- Understanding of cultural nuances and ability to work in a highly matrixed organization
- Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality, act with urgency, and exhibit close attention to detail
- Communication function, communication agency, and/or business partner experience
- Bachelor’s degree
Preferred:
- Experience supporting both human resources and enterprise organizations
