Description and Requirements

This position is responsible for providing accounting related expertise to MetLife’s Individual Disability Income (IDI) department.  This individual will have a critical role in ensuring various calculations and policy interpretations are made timely and accurately.  The candidate will need to be able to manage the expectations and interests of numerous team members and key stakeholders and prioritize and manage projects independently. 

Key Responsibilities:

·       Provide written referrals and supporting Excel spreadsheets to assist IDI claims examiners in their decision-making process

·       Analyze multi-period financial data from insureds (tax returns, profit and loss statements, paycheck details, etc.) to determine prior and current earnings in accordance with policy provisions

·       Utilize forensic analysis skills with respect to financial and occupational matters 

·       Assist with development and implementation of procedures and training for the IDI department pertaining to financial risk assessment skills

·       Communicate with insureds, claims examiners, attorneys, and other CPAs on various financial matters

·       Support management as a key internal consulting resource. Ensure effective communication with all parties to consulting relationships. May manage projects.

·       Act independently, in concert with short- and long-term business strategy and goals. 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

Required:

 

·       CPA with Tax and audit or forensic experience

·       3+ years of relevant experience in tax return preparation and financial analysis

·       Ability to understand and interpret policies and support management through sound financial guidance

·       Superior consulting, analytical, interpersonal, communication, time management, and project management skills

·       Ability to lead and motivate project team members that are not direct reports, as well as providing direction to lower-level staff members

·       BA/BS, preferable in Accounting or equivalent

 

Preferred:

 

·       Familiarity with disability insurance

·       In-depth knowledge of MetLife’s business, its products, the Financial line of business and its clients

 

The expected salary range for this position is $76,500 - $102,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
