Role Value Proposition:  

 

The Director will be responsible for reward management across the EMEA region (protection planning and retirement and savings solutions in 24 countries) which requires close partnership with key stakeholders. The Compensation and Benefits Lead will develop, implement, and evaluate compensation and benefit strategies and structures to ensure MetLife attracts, retains, and motivates top talent.

 

The role has 3 main areas; 1) daily operations which includes job evaluation and offer/salary change proposals for Assistant Vice President and above positions and provide guidance to country HRs on other compensation proposals to ensure alignment with MetLife goals, objectives and compensation philosophy 2) projects and initiatives which includes market review, cash compensation and benefits provisions design and annual pay for performance compensation planning and 3) support the implementation of the global Compensation & Benefits initiatives in the region. 

 

    

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide guidance and partnership to the HRBPs and senior business stakeholder on reward related matters;
    1. Be a source of expert information and advice in compensation for the region.
    2. Understand business needs and provide appropriate compensation and benefits solutions to key stakeholders.
    3. Partner with Country HRs to recommend viable solution to address ad hoc challenging situation. 
  • Review and develop competitive reward policies;
    1. Keep abreast of external pay trend, interpret and evaluate market trends to ensure competitive compensation packages and salary structure reviews to ensure the right balance between human capital budget and talent attraction/motivation/retention.
    2. Provide consultancy advice on sales incentive program to ensure competitiveness and in compliance with risk assessment
    3. Conduct benefits provisions review as needed for all EMEA countries.
    4. Partner with Global and Regional HRBPs and Global Compensation & Benefits on job grades review to ensure internal equity and appropriate grading structure
  • Lead Pay for Performance annual compensation review process;  
    1. Ensure readiness including accrual reports, data accuracy, system testing and HRBPs and line managers education and demonstration of pay-for-performance philosophy  
    2. Annual compensation process: supporting and partnering with HRBPs and seniors throughout the process, always advocating our pay for performance philosophy and fulfil global compensation guideline on base, short-term and long-term Incentives.
  • Regulatory Compliance;
    1. Understand the regulatory environment and remain informed of relevant retirement/social security/provident fund contribution and pay practices/act in different markets across EMEA as they impact on compensation and benefit policies and strategies and propose appropriate actions. Partner with country HR to ensure all compensation and benefits programs comply with legal requirements and organizational policies.
  • Program Implementation and Efficiency Mindset;
    1. Support the implementation of various HR programs and initiatives including process and operational efficiency review, etc.
    2. Support in driving future process and system enhancements for the EMEA region

 

Essential Business & Technical Experience

Required: 

  • Degree holder in Human Resources Management or related disciplines
  • Suitable and relevant Compensation and Benefits (reward) experience partnering with international client groups across Europe Middle East Africa region
  • Strong compensation experience including job evaluation and salary benchmarking
  • Ability to partner and consult effectively, evaluate, recommend and implement solutions, new processes and programs 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, advanced excel skills
  • Ability to work with details, resolve issues, think critically and make effective choices
  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
