An excellent opportunity exists to join the Derivatives Middle Office team within MetLife Insurance Investments (MII). The Associate will play an integral part within the Collateral Management Group (CMG). The team manages collateral processes for our Bilateral OTC derivatives, Exchanged Traded derivatives, Federal Home Loan Bank, MSFTA, and UK RE programs. The individual will work within a team environment to support MetLife’s expanding derivative and reinsurance businesses as well as contribute to and lead company initiatives.  The position will engage directly with RIS, trading, valuations, risk management, IT, operations, and finance teams. Responsibilities, given below, are well integrated within a strong team culture.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Manage the collateral process for all MetLife accounts trading in FX, Swaps, and Exchange traded products.
  • Liaise with settlements and custody to ensure daily collateral, security, and trade payments are settled on time. 
  • Reconciliation of CSA reinvestment cash balances and monthly interest payments.
  • Investigate and resolve daily cash and security breaks between our internal collateral system, IBOR, and custodian banks.
  • Prepare and review daily, weekly, and quarterly reports for Senior Management.
  • Contribute to analysis, development, testing, and integration of new applications and enhancements.
  • Ability to liaise with RIS, Trading, Middle Office, Legal, IT, PMU, Audit, and Back Office.
  • Look for new ways to automate and increase efficiency within the current workflow.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 6+ years of investments experience within a financial services firm supporting fixed income or derivatives
  • 3+ years of collateral management or settlement experience
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and collaborative skills
  • Advanced Excel Skills – (Pivots, macros, vlookup, graphs)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to meet daily deliverables in a high stress environment
  • Professional, self-motivated, and self-aware

Preferred:

  • B.S. Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or other related field of expertise
  • Knowledge of Murex, Calypso, Acadia, TriResolve, or Bloomberg a plus
  • Prior experience with collateral rehypothecation a plus
