This position is responsible for GAAP and Statutory financial reporting and analysis in the Retirement Income Solutions segment to support segment and corporate financial reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Controller for the Structured Settlements/Institutional Income Annuities
- Reporting of GAAP and Statutory monthly/quarterly financial results, including income statements, balance sheets and earnings by source in a timely and accurate manner to support U.S. Business Controllers and Corporate financial reporting requirements.
- Analysis of financial results including comparisons to prior periods and projections,
- Provide data and analysis to CFO/Business and other business partners as needed to support projections, business plan, actuals etc,
- Review of premium and benefit metrics for Structured Settlements and Institutional Income Annuities
- Review of Underwriting analysis in support of signoff
- Support the completion of the RIS QFS
- Work on special projects, i.e. STATUTORY/GAAP by products.
- Work closely with other units including Valuations, Product Management, Internal and external auditing to provide accurate and timely data and analysis.
- Work on FAS 60/UW metric and any other metrics utilized to support analytics.
- Review roll forwards in support of QFS signoff.
- Support MD&A process for MLINC and MLICC by creating support files as needed.
- Work on any other special projects assigned.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- 7 + years of experience in Accounting, Finance or an applicable field of expertise
- Ability to work independently on projects from start to finish with a sense of urgency behind all tasks
- Strong Excel skills with Pivots and Vlookups
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or an applicable field of expertise
- CPA/MBA or working towards it, is a plus
- General Ledger functional knowledge and proficiency
- Proficient in US GAAP and STAT
- Ability to analyze facts and develop logical conclusions.
- Knowledge of People Soft, Essbase and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) a plus
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software packages (Excel and Word)
- Effective time management and prioritization
- Ability to work within tight time constraints and multiple priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork and collaboration
- Ability to work independently on projects from start to finish with a sense of urgency behind all tasks
