Charlotte Sales Office is looking for a new Account Executive position, specifically to takeover and help foster meaningful and impactful relationships in the Greensboro, High Point, Winston Salem and Fayetteville, NC marketplace. We are looking for someone with experience in Group Benefit Sales who wants to join a high energy team. The Account Executive is responsible for driving new business sales and helping to persist and drive profitable business for the Charlotte Office. You’ll collaborate closely with Sales, Service, Underwriting and additional internal resources in an environment where every contribution is respected, and every perspective is heard.
As a Regional Market Account Executive, you’ll play a critical role in supporting MetLife’s growth. This team provides employee benefits sales and solutions to U.S.-based employers with fewer than 5,000 employees —and with over 15,000 customers, it generates approximately $1.1 billion in annual sales and $4+ billion in revenue. Industry-wide, this $52 billion market typically grows 3-4%—but thanks to our exceptional team, MetLife consistently achieves 6-7% growth. Products include Group benefit products; Dental, Vision, Life, STD, LTD, Voluntary Worksite Benefits, and MetLife Legal.
You’ll help us maintain this momentum, working closely with brokers/consultants to deliver solutions to businesses who want to expand their employee benefits. The position is focused on generating new sales activities while maintaining our existing relationships. At the same time, you’ll work collaboratively with various other departments, allowing you to explore new career possibilities and develop new strengths.
Key Responsibilities
- Working independently, sells and services products to group customer accounts/territories
- Maintains and grows the book of business through aggressive product sales, upsells, and renewals, within accounts/territory
- Drives product quote activity and sales within assigned accounts/ territory
- Positions cross-channel product offerings across the managed book of business
- Strategic Account Planning– builds lasting relationships with clients through open communications around mutual objectives
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills
Required:
- Strong record of success in leading business growth with significant P&L responsibility
- 3+ years of insurance and/or sales experience.
- Valid Life, Health, Accident, Property, and Casualty licenses or ability to obtain within three months of hire.
- Stellar customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills—including public speaking, negotiating, influencing, and networking savvy
- Keen financial acumen and attention to detail, particularly concerning product earnings.
- Motivated, independent, and adaptable working style, with the ability to thrive in fast-paced situations that require multitasking and prioritization.
- Accomplished change management leader, able to operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment.
Desire to be in market—this role requires 40% travel to engage with clients face-to-face!
