Description and Requirements

Role Value Proposition: 

Sells and services benefits and other workforce solutions to the Federal Government, its agencies and owned entities. This book of business includes the Federal Employees’ Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) program and the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) which are MetLife’s largest life and dental insurance contracts. The launch of MetLife Federal Benefits which provides voluntary benefits such as legal, pet and identity theft to members of the Federal Family are new growth opportunities.


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Working independently, sells and services products to Federal customer accounts/territories. Maintains and grows the book of business through aggressive product sales, upsells, and renewals, within accounts/territory. 
  • Positions cross-channel product offerings. Strategic Account Planning – builds lasting reciprocal relationships with clients through open communications around mutual objectives. Key resource in strategic decision making for MetLife and clients.
  • Thought leader in relation to industry and marketplace. Works closely with MetLife Federal Government Affairs team to track legislative changes. Mentors/educates colleagues on marketplace trends and insights. Acts as primary benefit resource to client. Provides post-sale service and interaction with clients. Resolves escalated service issues.
  • Recognizes, shapes and delivers profitable deals and anticipates strategic developments to benefit the client. Develops new business opportunities and sales growth by initiating and maintaining strong relationships. Actively monitors Sam.gov for new opportunities.
  • May generate reports to track/report activities, progress, and strategies. May assist in or lead case implementations. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
  • Maintain close relationship to key TPAs contracted by the Office of Personnel Management to identify key growth opportunities.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Group Life, Health and P&C License or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire 
  • 10+ years of Group Benefits experience
  • Excellent partnership and influencing skills
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and presentation abilities
  • Highly skilled at listening to prospect needs and translating into workable solutions
  • Ability to probe for additional detail and to identify root cause or unstated needs
  • Strong financial acumen around product earnings
  • Strategic and creative thinking skills
  • Strong organizational skills and highly developed ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Highly adaptable and capable of working in a very fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Able to operate effectively in a highly matrix environment.
  • Self-starter, independently driven to succeed 

Preferred:

  • Experience managing relationships with Federal entities and their contracting guidelines.
  • 4+ years previous experience successfully selling/servicing related products.

The salary range for applicants for this position is 90,000-95,000 plus sales incentives.
