The Opportunity

The role of AVP, Responsible Use of Data, involves leading the domains of Responsible Use of Data and Responsible Use of AI. This position is responsible for re-engineering and optimizing various processes across the organization, including architecture, legal, information security, data protection and privacy, model risk management, data governance, ethical AI, and innovation. The role also includes enhancing existing policies and creating new ones, along with standards, procedures, and platforms. Additionally, this leader will manage staff at all levels to grow their skills, foster team spirit, and encourage collaboration. This leader plays a crucial role in the success of both teams and in protecting the MetLife enterprise from irresponsible use of data or AI. Success in this role is measured by the success of the program, improved SLAs, reducing duplication of efforts, and simplification of processes.

 

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)

  • Develop and Implement Policies: Create and deploy policies for responsible data usage and AI, ensuring alignment and collaboration with control functions and governance structures.
  • Governance and Oversight: Establish and manage governance committees, oversight groups, and working groups to ensure compliance and ethical use of data and AI.
  • Design and Deploy a Federated Model: Design and deploy a federated model throughout the MetLife major regions to ensure responsible data usage and AI practices with speed and discipline.
  • Manage Initiative Use Case Reviews: deploy a shared platform to inventory business use cases, capture risks and conditions from all control partners, promote patterns of low-risk usages, define principles and guardrails for usage.
  • Project Management: Oversee project roadmaps, milestones, deliverables, and status reporting for initiatives related to responsible data and AI usage.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Define and build metrics, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to track the effectiveness of responsible data and AI initiatives

·       Leverage the Non-Financial Risk framework: shift left by placing the NFR initial assessment into the hands of the business leveraging the existing established NFR framework.

·       Prioritize Value: partner with strategy and innovation to move from many data and AI initiatives toward defining MetLife strategic game changing priorities and helping to ensure the alignment of priorities.

 

What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

·       15+ years in Data Governance, Data Science, Data Regulations, Technologies related to Data, Data Management Platforms 

·       Bachelor’s or advanced degree of a data or technical aspect including but not limited to computer science, data science, data engineering, or computer engineering.  Training or experience in ethics, governance, or the societal impact of AI is desirable.  

·       Proven ability to navigate complex stakeholders across all levels of the organization and cultivate strong partnerships. 

·       Thoughtful leadership skills and experience in translating greenfield ideas into productionized solutions.

·       Ability to influence and communicate the organization’s direction and ensure results are achieved.

·       Strong leadership skills, management, mentoring individuals, individual career development

·       Experienced in large scale organization changes


The salary range for applicants for this position is 161,000 - 214,600.
