The Team You Will Join
You will join the Underwriting team at MetLife Egypt, a key function responsible for evaluating risk and ensuring sound insurance decision-making. The team plays a critical role in maintaining underwriting standards, supporting business growth, and delivering excellent service to both internal stakeholders and customers.
The Opportunity
The Underwriter is responsible for assessing risks, supporting underwriting decisions, and ensuring that applications and claims are processed in line with company guidelines. This role contributes directly to maintaining a balanced and profitable portfolio while delivering a high level of service.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will be exposed to complex risk evaluation, interact closely with multiple stakeholders, and enhance your analytical and decision-making capabilities.
Success in this role requires strong analytical skills and sound judgment. You’ll collaborate closely with the underwriting team, field force, and management to ensure efficient processing and clear communication of decisions.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Assess risks within assigned authority and prepare recommendations for cases above authority for review by the Manager – Underwriting
- Document application developments and maintain clear, concise, and chronological records
- Screen claims (Death, Contestable, PTD, etc.) and escalate with appropriate analysis and conclusions
- Maintain consistent, fair, and prudent underwriting decisions in line with company guidelines
- Ensure timely completion of work within established service standards
- Follow up on pending requirements and policy delivery to ensure prompt action
- Ensure medical examinations are conducted in accordance with company standards
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the field force, responding professionally to inquiries
- Communicate underwriting decisions clearly to agents, explaining the rationale behind decisions
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Medical background is required
- Excellent English proficiency (written and spoken)
- Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong analytical thinking and decision-making ability
- High attention to detail and observation skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure with a customer-centric mindset
- Strong time management skills
