Position Summary

This role is responsible for assessing New Business requests that have been declined or referred by the Online Portal due to riskrelated factors. The position involves reviewing underwriting flags, analysing supporting information, and making informed, accurate decisions on whether the risk can be accepted and a quotation issued to the broker or client.

 

By carrying out these activities, the role plays a key part in supporting brokers through the quotation process and provides essential administrative and operational support to Underwriters. This helps ensure efficient case progression, improved service delivery, and consistency in underwriting decisions.

 

This position is ideal for individuals with strong attention to detail and a desire to expand their technical knowledge.

 

Key Responsibilities

·       Review portalreferred (kickout) cases to identify referral reasons and determine the appropriate next steps.

·       Proactively manage case volumes to ensure all work is completed within agreed service levels.

·       Interpret information submitted by brokers and clients and apply underwriting guidelines and procedures accurately.

·       Provide highquality administrative and casehandling support to Underwriters to facilitate smooth decision-making.

·       Collaborate with internal teams across Sales, Operations, Claims, and Underwriting to ensure effective communication and case progression.

·       Maintain accurate documentation, ensuring all decisions and supporting notes are recorded in line with audit and compliance standards.

·       Contribute to process improvements and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, or customer experience.

 

Education

·       Required: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, or a diploma equivalent to a minimum of 15 years of education.

·       Preferred: Relevant financialservices qualifications such as GR1, CII certifications, or equivalent.

 

Experience

·       Minimum 3–4 years of experience working within an Underwriting function.

·       Proven ability to deliver strong customer support with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and timely service.

 

Preferred (but not essential):

·       Experience working with brokers or other clientfacing teams.

·       Exposure to UK Group Risk Insurance (Life, Income Protection, Critical Illness) or comparable international life/health insurance markets.

·       Experience working in environments with strict SLAs, accuracy standards, and highvolume tasks.

 

 

Technical Skills

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills (primarily written interaction with UK Operations).

·       High degree of accuracy with strong attention to detail.

·       Effective organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload in a fastpaced environment.

·       Selfmotivated, enthusiastic, and proactive with a positive, cando attitude.

·       Strong proficiency in English and Mathematics, supported by solid academic performance.

·       Ability to maintain highquality output under time pressure.

·       Strong collaborative skills, including the ability to discuss complex cases, share knowledge, and support team training needs.

 

Soft-skills

·       Excellent written English (UK) communication skills, with an ability to convey information clearly and professionally via email.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to work effectively with data and spreadsheets.

·       Strong problemsolving skills and the confidence to identify and escalate issues appropriately.

·       Ability to work well within a team environment, supporting colleagues and contributing to knowledgesharing initiatives.
