The Team You Will Join
The Company Secretarial Team is based in Dublin and is part of the Europe Legal Affairs function. The role will lead a team of 2 to provide company secretarial support services and assistance to the business across MetLife’s Irish, UK and Swiss entities together with its branch/country network across Europe.

This is a great role for a very experienced company secretary looking to work in a multi-national organisation within  the insurance industry that has its European headquarters in Dublin. You will be managing a busy Company Secretarial Team dealing directly with a variety of different stakeholders across Europe. You will also be required to advise and support MetLife in respect of regulatory governance matters for the Irish regulated entities.

The Company Secretarial Team is engaged with all levels in the business, across a wide variety of projects that will give the candidate a broad understanding of the MetLife business across Europe. The team is viewed as being a centre of excellence at a global level within MetLife.

In order to be successful you must be very diligent and professional as this role requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Our ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to promptly acquire an understanding of the organisation’s operations and structures.

The Opportunity
  • To lead and manage a team of two company secretary professionals.
  • Supporting the MetLife governance framework (including boards and committees) with particular focus on acting as an advocate of governance matters across the Europe organisation.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
  • Advising and supporting MetLife, in particular the Irish regulated entities, in respect of regulatory governance matters.
  • Organising, attending at, and preparing detailed minutes of, board and committee meetings.
  • Managing the overall board calendar for the year including alignment of governance meetings.
  • Maintaining a schedule of agenda items, action logs in respect of board and committee meetings and following up with responsible executives to ensure that the corporate governance requirements are met for the supported MetLife entities.
  • Maintenance of up to date corporate records on GEMs.
  • Working collaboratively with other teams both domestically and internationally to support the preparation and delivery of timely board and committee papers.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
  • Chartered Governance Institute qualification essential.
  • Honours degree level educated or equivalent.
  • Minimum ten years Irish company secretarial experience (including board and committee minute writing).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within a financial services corporation (ideally insurance).
  • Strong understanding of CBI governance regulations / guidelines and relevant Irish governance regulation.
  • People management experience.
  • Strong Microsoft office capabilities, in particular the use of Word, Excel and Outlook.
