This position is within the US Controllers Department supporting the RIS America segment and will be responsible for Stable Value products supporting internal and external GAAP and STAT reporting. The position is responsible for developing and enhancing existing reporting, analysis and controls (2) monthly and quarterly close analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for accounting and reporting of Stable Value product
- Reporting of GAAP and Statutory monthly/quarterly financial results, including income statements, balance sheets and earnings by source in a timely and accurate manner to support U.S. Business Controllers and Corporate financial reporting requirements.
- Prepare and/or consolidate monthly and quarterly analysis including, trends, actual versus projection and comparison to prior periods
- Support the completion of the Retirement Income Solutions Quarterly Financial Supplement (QFS) – including Stable Value
- Conduct accounting walkthroughs with external business partners and prepare proper documentation including Note to Files on key accounting items
- Work closely with other units including Valuations, Product Management, SOX, Internal and external auditing to provide accurate and timely data and analysis.
- Support MD&A process for different entities by creating support files as needed
- Lead or participate in special projects as needed
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- Strong background in accounting and/or finance required – 5+ years – with a firm understanding of accounting concepts, principles and practices
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or an applicable field of expertise
- General Ledger functional knowledge and proficiency
- Proficient in US GAAP and STAT
- Knowledge of Essbase and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
- Ability to work independently on projects from start to finish with a sense of urgency behind all tasks
- Strong Excel skills with Pivots and Vlookups
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate accounting concepts concisely and clearly in a manner that both financial & non-financial audiences can understand.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software packages (Excel and Word)
- Able to manage time efficiently and prioritize responsibilities and meet company deadlines.
Preferred:
- CPA/MBA or working towards it, is a plus
- Insurance industry experience is a plus
- Ability to analyze facts and develop logical conclusions
- Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork and collaboration
- Self-motivated, ambitious and dedicated
- Detail Oriented, analytical, and organized
