The Opportunity

The Citizen Developer Community Lead is responsible for building and sustaining the programs, experiences, and connections that grow MetLife's global maker community — from onboarding and training to engagement and capability development — across MetLife's worldwide functions and regions. This is an exciting opportunity to serve as the connective tissue between executive sponsors, regional COE teams, and citizen developers on the ground, directly shaping how thousands of employees learn, collaborate, and innovate with low-code and AI tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end community management for the Citizen Developer program, serving as the primary point of contact for community engagement across all levels—from executive sponsors and business leaders to individual makers and champions.
  • Design and deliver training programs, learning pathways, and onboarding experiences that build citizen developer capability at scale, ensuring content remains current with evolving platform features and best practices.
  • Drive ongoing community engagement through regular programming—including newsletters, forums, events, and recognition initiatives—that sustain participation, surface peer insights, and reinforce a culture of shared learning.
  • Build and manage the citizen developer champions network, recruiting and enabling advocates within business units who can extend community reach and provide on-the-ground support across regions.
  • Track community health and engagement metrics, sharing insights with the Global COE Lead and relevant stakeholders, and using data to continuously improve programs, identify gaps, and demonstrate the value of the citizen developer community.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Communications, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in community management, platform enablement, end-user adoption or a related role within a technology organization — including hands-on experience with AI-powered tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Power Apps), including a solid understanding of underlying AI concepts such as large language models, prompt design, and how AI-native features are applied within low-code environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver training programs, workshops, or learning experiences for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships across business units, regions, and seniority levels—from frontline makers to executive sponsors.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience operating within or supporting a Center of Excellence (COE), including familiarity with governance frameworks, intake processes, and federated team models.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise AI, automation, and digital transformation trends, including familiarity with key AI tools and LLM-based platforms, and the ability to translate these concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical citizen developers.
  • Experience using community platforms, learning management systems, or collaboration tools (e.g., Viva Engage, SharePoint, Teams) to manage and scale digital communities.

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.

The expected salary range for this position is  $100,000 - $130,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
