Job Scope

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, performance and scalability of our production systems.

This role combines software engineering and operations and is ideal for strong backend engineers who want to work close to production systems and evolve into SRE/DevOps engineering. The role requires a strong ownership mindset, with responsibility for driving solutions end-to-end, from design and development to production stability and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure high availability, performance and scalability of production applications and services
• Take end-to-end ownership of systems and production issues, from detection to resolution and preventive actions
• Lead incident response, troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA)
• Design and implement monitoring, alerting and logging solutions
• Define and track service health metrics (SLIs/SLOs) and drive reliability improvements
• Develop and implement automation tools and scripts to improve operational efficiency and system resilience
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth releases and stable deployments
• Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar)
• Carry out performance tuning, capacity planning and system optimization
• Drive continuous improvement through post-incident reviews and proactive enhancements
• Proactively engage stakeholders and provide timely communication of system health, risks, and resolutions

Academic Qualification

Relevant Past Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in application development, SRE, DevOps or production engineering

Functional Competencies

• Strong experience in backend development (Java/Spring boot, .NET core, Node.js or similar)
• Experience building scalable APIs and microservices-based applications
• Solid understanding of application architecture, design patterns, and system design principles
• Strong understanding of system fundamentals (Linux/Windows, networking basics)
• Experience with production systems, including debugging, performance turning and issue resolution
• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic etc.)
• Hands-on experience with any major cloud platform (Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP etc)
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Proficiency in scripting (python / bash / PowerShell)
• Strong focus on code quality, testing, and maintainability (unit/integration testing, code reviews)
