We are looking for a LatAm External Intelligence and Solution Innovation Director to serve as a key enabler for MetLife LatAm success in its business transformation journey and ensure the momentum of the New Frontier strategy, as part of the Strategy, Transformation & Distribution Innovation LatAm team.
This role is accountable for building a muscle that turns external signals into tangible business opportunities. The Director will identify trends and disruptions across LatAm (and worldwide), translate them into relevant insights that could imply an opportunity area that accelerates the New Frontier strategy and creates durable differentiation. Additionally, in terms of solutions innovation, this role is expected to co-lead with Product and Marketing the ideation of new solutions to enhance our customer value proposition.
A core expectation of the role is to responsibly use Gen AI to increase speed, depth, and quality of research and insight generation and solution design—e.g., faster horizon scanning, synthesis of large volumes of information, rapid conceptualization. Also, the Director will help industrialize AI ways of working—from use-case discovery through fit and opportunity assessment and value realization.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor, analyze, and interpret macro, consumer, regulatory, technology (incl. AI), and competitor trends across LatAm to identify opportunities and threats; translate signals into clear strategic implications.
- Autonomously develop executive-ready narratives ("so what", "now what") and decision materials, present insights, scenarios, and recommendations to senior leadership at regional and country level.
- Own the external perspective opportunity funnel: frame problems, define target segments and unmet needs, quantify value pools, and prioritize opportunities (products, propositions, experiences, distribution, partnerships) based on impact, feasibility, and strategic fit.
- Lead cross-functional discovery and ideation in terms of solution innovation, working with Strategy, Product, Distribution, Transformation and Marketing.
- Co-drive solution innovation: synthesize insights into concept briefs, value propositions, customer journeys, and business cases; participate in design pilots/experiments (VOC, prototypes, test-and-learn) with clear hypotheses, success metrics, and learning agendas.
- Apply AI (incl. GenAI) to augment intelligence and innovation (e.g., automated scanning/summarization, insight synthesis, rapid concept prototyping, personalization ideas, risk/controls assessment); ensure responsible AI practices, data privacy, and model governance are embedded in proposals.
- Identify where AI can redefine processes and operating models. Identify AI opportunities (use cases across growth, distribution, operations, and customer experience), including strategic fit, value sizing, prioritization, and competitive advantage assessment.
- Partner with Technology/Data teams to assess AI capabilities readiness, feasibility and scalability.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in market intelligence, strategy, innovation, product discovery, consulting, or a similar role, with a track record of turning insights into implemented solutions or pilots.
- Insurance and/or financial services experience is strongly preferred; understanding of distribution models and customer journeys in LatAm is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to leverage AI/GenAI tools for research, synthesis, and decision support; comfort working with ambiguous data and building structured insights.
- Proven ability to lead innovation methods (e.g., design thinking, lean experimentation, product discovery) from opportunity framing through prototype/pilot design, measurement, and scale recommendations.
- Excellent executive communication and storytelling skills; ability to translate complex topics (including AI capabilities) into clear recommendations and compelling narratives.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills; able to influence without authority and align diverse teams around outcomes.
- Hands-on, fast-paced operator mindset with strong learning agility; comfortable adopting new tools and ways of working (including AI copilots) to improve productivity and quality.
- Working knowledge of responsible AI use cases
- Experience in leading the application of AI/GenAI to accelerate external intelligence and innovation, and in translating AI capabilities into business transformation opportunities (e.g., agentic workflows, decision intelligence, personalization, workforce augmentation) and it´s alignment with New Frontier Strategy
- Be fluent spoken and written both in Spanish and English. Portuguese is a plus
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
