The Team You Will Join:

 

As Assistant Vice President – Compliance and Legal Affairs Audit, MetLife Inc. you will join the Investments, Global Risk and Legal Affairs Audit team (IGRL) within the MetLife Inc. Global Audit Department. This team is responsible for overseeing audit coverage of the Global Corporate Compliance Function and Legal Affairs team. It will also include coordination with and provide counsel and perspective to the Domestic and International Regional Audit teams covering Compliance and Legal Affairs.

 

The Opportunity:

The Assistant Vice President – Compliance and Legal Audit, MetLife Inc. position reports directly to the Vice President and Head of Investments, Global Risk Management, and Legal Affairs Audit, and will also work closely with the management team of Global Risk Management (specifically Compliance) and Legal Affairs.

 

As the Assistant Vice President – Compliance and Legal Audit you will be responsible for overseeing audit coverage of the Global Corporate Compliance Function and Legal Affairs team. Responsibilities also include coordination with and provide counsel and perspective to the Domestic and International Regional Audit teams covering Compliance and Legal Affairs. This includes owning the audit plan for these areas and ensuring that all regulatory required audits are completed and that additionally, high risk areas are assessed, monitored and covered as appropriate to add value to MetLife. You will also have to partner closely with peers covering SOX and technology audits. The Assistant Vice President – Compliance and Legal Audit is expected to be an accomplished communicator, with deep compliance domain knowledge including an understanding of Legal Affairs activities, that will help promote the value add of IA activity through committee interaction and communication with key business leads, participation in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activity, or participation in other strategic projects as deemed appropriate. 

 

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities):

  • Establish and lead audit team direction with a “One Audit” philosophy in a service provider capacity to both US and regional audit plan owners, as applicable.
  • Act as a proactive thought leader by setting strategy, policy, and audit resource allocations in support of business initiatives ensuring audit activities align with enterprise strategies and create sustained shareholder value.
  • Provide leadership in reporting standardization, on-going performance metrics and audit budget allocations.
  • Influence and support global integrated audit work which may contain a regional component for the numerous in country Compliance and Legal Affairs leaders.
  • Proactively report top risks and management’s attention to control health and risk mitigation to
  • internal audit leadership.
  • Drive consistency and quality in audit reporting globally within areas of responsibility.
  • Ascertain the reliability, effectiveness and timeliness of management data used in the course of conducting business, and where appropriate, that such data is effectively protected.
  • Review and determine compliance with established policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
  • Respond effectively to management requests for special audit projects and investigations.
  • Work collaboratively with business and operational areas globally and be accountable to provide appropriate management levels with an objective and independent review of operations and recommendations where improvements are appropriate.
  • Act as liaison with appropriate external professional organizations and keep informed on new developments in the fields of Compliance and Auditing.
  • Manage and coordinate the relationship with external audit teams and consultants to the extent they are performing audit activities.
  • Manage relationships with external regulatory agencies as applicable.
  • Build and maintain an effective and competent audit staff via an efficient organization structure, and provide leadership in a manner that motivates, engages and develops individuals and teams to successfully execute plans and drives strong results.

The salary range for applicants for this position is $161,000 to $214,600.
