The Team You Will Join

MetLife Insurance Investments (MII) manages MetLife’s investment portfolio, developing risk-managed strategies across global markets and asset classes to support business goals, match insurance liabilities, and ensure risk and return alignment. MII's work is integral to MetLife’s legacy, driving returns and long-term stability through meticulous investment and strategic planning. Our asset portfolio represents over a century of disciplined investment experience and foresight. With us, you will design investment solutions and uncover opportunities that drive returns and long-term stability in collaboration with a team of industry leaders. Join us and leave a lasting impact.

The Opportunity

This position oversees over $100 billion of MetLife’s General Account investments in asset-based finance, public structured finance, residential mortgage loans, and alternative investments. In this role, you will monitor macroeconomic and sector developments to shape your views on the asset classes you cover and work closely with our internal asset management partners at MetLife’s Investment Management (MIM) to translate those views into portfolio positioning. The role requires ongoing communication with MIM on sector portfolio performance, large or complex transactions, and broader market trends. You will also partner with teams across MII, Global Risk Management, and other business partners to help drive the best outcomes for our General Account portfolios globally. In addition, you will communicate the performance and outlook of the covered asset sectors to a range of stakeholders, including MetLife senior management, partner functions, and regulators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish the approach and criteria to invest in the asset sectors that you cover, in alignment with the broader General Account, and adapt to relevant market developments
  • Oversee MIM’s investment activity within covered sectors to ensure consistent alignment with MII’s investment philosophy and strategy, and adjust when necessary
  • Partner with MIM in assessing the suitability of new investment types or complex transactions within the covered asset sectors
  • Closely collaborate with the regional CIO organizations and with MII’s investment strategy team to help optimize MetLife’s strategic and tactical asset allocation decisions
  • Work together with MII’s investments operations and finance teams in analyzing and communicating the positioning of MetLife’s investments in the covered sectors to internal and external stakeholders
  • Partner with GRM in monitoring the risk positioning of the covered asset sectors, assessing risk interconnections with the broader General Account, and ensuring compliance with MetLife’s investment guidelines and investment limits framework
  • Mentor and develop junior talent within the team, and actively support talent development in the broader Global Credit and Equity organization

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in portfolio management, credit research, asset underwriting, or similar roles, preferably with insurance companies or insurance asset managers
  • Deep expertise in structured finance in the covered asset sectors
  • Strategic thinker, strong communicator, and highly analytical
  • AI fluency with the ability to effectively leverage emerging technologies to enhance productivity and support informed decision-making

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with insurance investment regulations specific to the covered asset sectors in the U.S. and other key jurisdictions, preferred
  • MBA and/or CFA strongly preferred
