Within Global Marketing & Communications, the Customer Experience (CX) team is the CX Center of Excellence and Execution for the MetLife enterprise. The team is responsible for defining principles, standards and assets for digital experiences at MetLife. Its team members are embedded into agile teams established around products or customer journey-based value pools, where they collaborate with cross-functional partners to efficiently deliver customer-centric experiences focused on delivery of customer and business value.
As a member of the Global Customer Experience Design team, the UX/UI Designer will deliver design solutions for enterprise priority programs and support continuous evolution of design standards for MetLife.
When working on specific priority programs, the UX/UI Designer will partner with CX Leads and Senior UX Designers, as part of a cross-functional team, to deliver high quality, customer-centered design by applying strong UX fundamentals, leveraging our design system, navigating complexity, and iterating based on feedback to create polished solutions. S/he will apply human centered design principles and UX heuristics, connect design decisions to user needs, and integrate insights and data into daily decision making. S/he will participate in all parts of the design process as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Balance customer needs and business requirements to design user centered experiences
- Define information architecture and sitemaps of digital experiences
- Create user flows to define steps needed to achieve user goals
- Design UI components leveraging the MetLife design system; partner with Global Design System team to ensure reuse of existing components and to inform expansion of MetLife’s design system
- Create wireframes to blueprint the information hierarchy and interactions of a digital experience
- Create prototypes to explore and test design decisions
- Leverage our Brand Experience system to define visual expression throughout the experience
- Inform usability testing plans to gain insights that inform design decisions
- Create production-ready design files and assets for handoff to UI developers
- Perform design quality assurance during development
- Identify design solutions that can scale, create new components to be part of the MetLife global design system
- 2+ years of experience designing for responsive web and mobile app
- Skilled in user experience fundamentals: research, wireframes, prototypes, usability testing
- Strong knowledge of user interface design, interaction design, information architecture, visual design and the ability to generate design ideas
- Strong proficiency with Figma, specifically using design libraries and tokens
- Comfortable designing and leveraging a design system
- Experience successfully partnering with product managers, developers, business analysts, content strategists, design researchers and other designers to arrive at optimal solutions
- Strong communication skills with ability to articulate and optimize design based on the value to the user and the business
- Ability to create designs that can scale, ensuring components meet WCAG standards and adapt to various use cases and platforms
- Experience working in iterative processes and in an agile environment
- Financial services and insurance domain knowledge a plus; ability to leverage business and domain knowledge to engage in meaningful conversations with stakeholders, leading to increased design quality and efficiencies
- Skills in CSS, Javascript and HTML a plus
- Experience developing or maintaining design systems a plus
- Bachelors degree preferred
