The Senior ILM Consultant is responsible for providing risk-based information lifecycle management (ILM) guidance across MetLife’s businesses and corporate functions. The role is within Government & Legal Affairs (GLA), supporting MetLife’s ILM Program Office in the Global Technology & Operations, Employment, Benefits & Information (GEBI) section.

This is an exciting opportunity for an agile technology, legal, compliance, or information governance professional who enjoys working collaboratively, applying sound judgment, and leveraging and experimenting with emerging tools — including artificial intelligence — to modernize information governance and advisory practices.
- Provide risk-based ILM guidance to businesses and corporate functions, ensuring compliance with MetLife’s ILM Policy, Records Retention Schedule, and Non-Financial Risk Management framework, including secure storage, proper retention, and defensible disposal.
- Advise on information governance risks and controls related to new and emerging technologies, including digital platforms and AI-enabled tools.
- Partner with Technology & Operations, Privacy, Compliance, Operational Risk, and Legal to identify, assess, and mitigate information management risks.
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives, working groups, and special projects supporting enterprise information governance.
- Develop clear guidance, training, and communications; leverage AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to enhance ILM support and drive continuous program improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) with strong academic credentials.
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in technology, information governance, records management, legal, compliance, or operational risk roles within a regulated industry or large corporate environment.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver practical, business-oriented, risk-based guidance to internal stakeholders; Strong collaboration, communication, and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to adopt, test, and learn new tools, including emerging AI technologies, to improve how work is performed.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with sound judgment and effective prioritization
- Knowledge of technology including tools for data disposal, information governance, records management, privacy, compliance, or non-financial risk management frameworks.
- Experience supporting technology implementations, digital transformation initiatives, or data-centric programs.
- Exposure to governance or risk considerations related to artificial intelligence or advanced analytics.
The expected salary range for this position is $93,200 - $124,300. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
