The Financial Management Group plays an essential role in MetLife’s success. Our teams take the lead on matters related to financial reporting, treasury, corporate actuarial, tax, investor relations, and mergers and acquisitions. The Global Budget & Allocations team is part of the Expense Center of Excellence under the Financial Management Group. This team plays a critical role in providing governance and administration over the global expense budgeting and allocation processes. The team collaborates closely with internal cross functional partners across system support, data governance, intercompany accounting, and financial planning & analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain experience in expenses, global hierarchy management, and the expense planning processes while building relationships with a broad range of groups.

 

The Senior Financial Analyst will support the manager and director in validating the accuracy and completeness of budget and allocations data, researching variances, resolving data discrepancies, and processing adjustment entries.  Success in this role requires attention to detail, problem solving skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, and delivering results timely.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the business administration functions for the global expense budget system (GEM)
  • Conduct data validation controls across multiple scenarios and systems
  • Review and resolve hierarchy mapping discrepancies
  • Research variances and process pre and post allocated adjustments
  • Provide ad hoc end-user support for the expense budget system
  • Assist in system implementations and upgrades by documenting processes and supporting testing requirements
  • Identify, implement, and strengthen internal controls in new and existing processes 
  • Continually seek opportunities for improvement through simplification, automation, and AI tools

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required: 

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience  
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to shift seamlessly when priorities change
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and multi-task

 

Preferred:

  • Proficient in financial systems and tools (Oracle, Workday, Essbase, SmartView, etc.)
  • Experience with Alteryx and AI tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
