Retirement and Income Solutions (RIS) is a part of MetLife’s U.S. Business and issues products for transferred pension liabilities, stable value, institutional income annuities, benefits funding, and structured settlements. As part of the RIS Contracts team, this role works closely with the product, sales, pricing, implementation, operations, and legal teams to develop and file contracts and related documents for pension risk transfer, institutional income annuities, and structured settlements products. 

This role is primarily responsible for filing forms with state insurance departments and required periodic reporting with supervision for the RIS organization.  Forms primarily include contracts, amendments, certificates, letters, and separate account memoranda of operations. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Prepare and submit state and Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission (Compact) regulatory filings, primarily using the System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing (SERFF). 
  • Respond to insurance regulators’ questions and requests related to SERFF filings. 
  • Track the status of regulatory filings and update all relevant stakeholders. 
  • Manage recordkeeping for issued forms and other filing documentation and maintain appropriate databases and systems. 
  • Assist with development and issuance of forms and documents to support new and existing products within RIS. 
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of company policies and state rules and regulations impacting contracts. 
  • Collaborate with internal business partners as necessary to accomplish objectives. 
  • Assist with special compliance, product development and team projects on an as needed basis. 
  • Support the scaling and utilization of RIS’ digital contracts management platform. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years relevant experience - or equivalent business experience of 4+ years. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, e.g., Copilot, Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint, and Teams. 
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and research skills to handle complex issues. 
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to multitask. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to successfully collaborate with stakeholders of various disciplines and obtain regulatory approval from state insurance department officials. 
  • Self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic. 
  • Outcome-focused and deadline oriented. 
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills to maintain positive working relationships with peers, leaders and business partners. 
  • Strong interest in identifying and implementing process improvements and digital/automated business solutions. 
  • Strong customer focus.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of regulatory filing experience with SERFF and the Florida Insurance Regulation Filing System (IRFS). 
  • Knowledge of annuities business (particularly pension risk transfer, institutional income annuities and/or structured settlements), qualified defined benefit plans, qualified defined contribution plans and/or ERISA.



Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 - $82,800. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
