Role Value Proposition:


The MetLife Corporate Functions Data Office is part of the Data and Analytics Organization (D&A) within GTO. Our mission is to implement scalable data solutions for our stakeholders to generate actionable insights. We achieve this we partner with our D&A teams, Technology, and our Business and functional partners to build and deploy the next generation data solutions for MetLife as we head into our New Frontier strategy!

We are looking for a Data Analyst who is passionate about data and understanding its lifecycle. The candidate will require a balance of business acumen, and knowledge of data technology and tools, which includes but not limited to expertise in analytics, SQL, Big Data, and Cloud technologies. The role is based in Cary, NC, Tampa, FL or NY, NY and supports MetLife’s commitment to data-driven decision-making and operational excellence

Success in this role requires clear communication skills, with an emphasis on empathy and interaction with senior business and IT partners around the world as well as peer program stakeholders and technical staff. This role will collaborate closely with stakeholders across business lines, technology, operations, and D&A capabilities (Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Modeling, Data Architecture, Data Science, BI & Insights).

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with business and functional analysts to develop functional and technical requirements documents for production-grade data and analytics solutions that drive MetLife’s business forward.
  • Understand and Analyze end to end business processes and deliver detailed data flow diagrams.
  • Facilitate the interaction between the business and technical teams to ensure requirements are understood and solutions meets the requirements.
  • Interact with data architecture, data engineering, data governance, data modeling, data quality, and data science teams to ensure requirements and implementation is understood.
  • Collaborate with the extended program team and provide expertise regarding high level data solutions and implementation plans.
  • Validate and test the solution at various points to ensure it aligns with requirements.
  • Mentor junior Data Analysts and review their work deliverables.
  • Independently lead data analysis and solutioning.
  • Collaborate with multiple partners from Business, Technology, Operations, and D&A capabilities.
  • Provide people leadership: coach, develop, and engage talent.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required Skills:

  • 8–10+ years of relevant experience in data analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent educational qualification.
  • Excellent communication and structured problem-solving skills: demonstrated ability to document and explain complex system flows to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in partner and stakeholder engagement.
  • Technical proficiency in data profiling, data validation, and data storage/retrieval principles for Azure, document databases, and relational databases. 
  • Understanding of data warehouses, data marts, data lakes, and Medallion architecture.
  • Domain-based design, solutioning, and estimation experience.
  • Mentorship experience and talent development.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with data modeling tools such as Erwin.
  • Technical proficiency in SQL/NOSQL, Hadoop
  •  in financial or insurance settings.
  • Experience with Databricks, serverless SQL, Data Governance, and Data Quality.
  • Appetite to learn new technologies and innovate.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and with cloud platforms.
  • Certification in relevant tools or platforms is a plus.

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $145,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
