The Opportunity 

The Associate Manager – STD/LTD Bridge Claims is responsible for the oversight of a team of individual contributors including Technical Claims Specialists and/or Bridge Claims Specialists as well as other projects required by business needs.  Guided by our purpose – always with you building a more confident future – and our New Frontier strategy focused on stronger growth, attractive returns and all-weather performance, this is an exciting opportunity to manage the risk and performance of the assigned team members and to ensure effective execution of all defined performance indicators. They are responsible for the oversight of key business assignments/segmentations as well as ensuring decisional accuracy and timeliness of all claim determinations, development of the assigned team members, customer implementations, project management and other related duties. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of individual contributors to deliver high‑quality, timely STD/LTD claim transitions and determinations, ensuring all key performance indicators, service commitments, and customer expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Create the infrastructure, workflows, and team culture that promote data accuracy, strong documentation practices, financial integrity, operational efficiency, and sustained employee engagement.
  • Oversee claim quality, decisional and financial accuracy, operating costs, and inventory through regular quality and block reviews, performance monitoring, and timely escalation management to ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Manage end‑to‑end people and operational performance, including workload prioritization, issue resolution, escalated customer complaints, technical inquiries, productivity challenges, hiring, promotions, performance management, compensation, and unit operating expenses.
  • Develop team capability and performance through coaching, feedback, performance management, training, and targeted development plans, while identifying solutions to performance gaps and celebrating strong results and behaviors.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional and cross‑organizational partnerships with peers, Associate Managers, leadership, account teams, and claims management partners to support projects, implement workflow enhancements, resolve complex issues, and achieve broader STD/LTD organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of management and project management experience demonstrating strong leadership, coaching skills and planning and organizational skills 
  • Extensive knowledge of IDI, STD, LTD, group disability, Workers Compensation, ERISA, Social Security and state laws 
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a focus on producing results 
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and the ability to think outside the box 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both verbal and written form 
  • Excellent customer service skills proven through internal and external customer interactions  
  • Demonstrated conceptual thinking, risk management, ability to handle complex situations effectively 
  • Organizational and time management skills 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple systems and technology resources  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • 10+ years of LTD Insurance Claims experience
The expected salary range for this position is $78,000 - $104,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
