Who We Are

The Cloud Services Engineering (CSE) team is a key part of of the Cloud Engineering and Enablement organization, which is responsible for defining and delivering cloud infrastructure standards and services globally for MetLife.

Cloud Services Engineering (CSE) team is the driving force behind the standardization and enablement of the Azure services portfolio at MetLife, including application, data, AI, integration, and more. As stewards of MetLife’s Azure service catalog, we set the standards and orchestrate the seamless adoption of cutting-edge cloud capabilities across the enterprise.

What We Do

Our team partners closely with application, data, and business solution teams to architect, optimize, and future-proof MetLife’s Azure infrastructure. We deliver robust, enterprise-ready solutions through custom Terraform modules, automation frameworks, and best-in-class configuration practices—ensuring security, compliance, and operational excellence at scale.

·       Cloud Architecture & Strategy: Define and evolve enterprise cloud standards and patterns.

·       Terraform Module Development: Establish reusable, secure, and compliant infrastructure-as-code modules.

·       Service Enablement: Integrate new Azure services and capabilities to meet business needs.

·       Cost Optimization: Implement strategies to reduce cloud spend while maintaining performance.

·       Security & Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices.

·       Performance & Reliability: Continuously improve efficiency and resiliency of cloud services.

·       Operational Readiness: Equip operations teams with tools and processes for effective support.

·       Governance & Standardization: Maintain consistent configuration standards across the organization.

Position Summary

We are seeking a visionary leader to head our Cloud Services Engineering team. This role will own the design, development, and governance of Azure infrastructure service automation, ensuring security, scalability, and cost efficiency. The Director will manage a team of skilled engineers, drive strategic initiatives, and partner with senior technology leaders to advance MetLife’s cloud capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

·       Define and execute the enterprise cloud engineering roadmap aligned with business and technology objectives.

·       Lead strategic initiatives to modernize infrastructure and adopt emerging technologies.

·       Partner with architecture, security, and operations teams to ensure cohesive cloud governance.

Team Management

·       Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing cloud engineering team.

·       Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Technical Oversight

·       Own development and maintenance of Terraform modules and IaC standards.

·       Ensure consistent Azure service configuration and compliance across all environments.

·       Drive cost optimization, security hardening, and performance tuning initiatives.

Operational Excellence

·       Establish processes for operational readiness and incident response.

·       Monitor health advisories and proactively mitigate risks.

Required Skills:

  • Cloud Expertise: Deep knowledge of Azure services, networking, security, and governance.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Advanced experience with Terraform and Terraform Cloud.
  • DevOps & Automation: Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
  • Security & Compliance: Proven ability to implement cloud security best practices.
  • Leadership: Experience managing engineering teams and driving enterprise-scale initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert and Terraform Associate.
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Financial Stewardship: Ability to optimize cloud spending and managing budgets effectively.
The expected salary range for this position is $130,000 - $190,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
