Department Overview: MetLife Insurance Investments (MII) manages MetLife’s investment portfolio, developing risk-managed strategies across global markets and asset classes to support business goals, match insurance liabilities, and ensure risk and return alignment. The Role: The Investments Analyst role is in the Global Credit and Equity (GCE) team within MII. GCE is responsible for developing investment strategies, overseeing the GA portfolio from a fundamental credit and equity perspective, and ensuring portfolios are positioned and managed in the best interest of the GA. GCE also independently monitors and identifies areas of concern as well as opportunity and advises on macro allocation. GCE works with MIM to help MetLife meet its insurance business objectives.  

The Investments Analyst will work alongside GCE’s heads of corporate credit, real estate, and structured finance helping oversee various asset sectors including public and private credit, commercial mortgage loans, agricultural loans, real estate equity, structured finance, residential mortgage loans, and alternative investments. They will conduct and communicate analytical work that will support the identification of fundamental risks and opportunities in the general account portfolio and participate in discussions about portfolio positioning.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support fundamental assessment of existing or prospective investments 
  • Review daily external research reports and news, and prepare timely updates 
  • Review portfolio dashboards and report on any notable trends 
  • Support development of enhanced portfolio reporting capabilities 
  • Track portfolio trade activity and communicate relevant findings 
  • Actively participate in formal and informal discissions with MIM asset sector teams 
  • Analyze industry benchmarking reports and report on key findings and trends 
  • Stay up to date on industry regulatory initiatives and produce analysis to support advocacy efforts 
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as needed 

Key Relationships: 

  • Reports to: Managing Director, structured products and alternative investments
  • Key Stakeholders: MII GCE, regional CIO, and operations teams, MIM asset sector teams 

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Must be currently enrolled in a higher education institution and actively pursuing an undergraduate degree with a strong academic record and a demonstrated interest in investments / finance / economics 
  • Anticipated graduation date must be between December 2025 and June 2026 
  • Strong work ethic, personal and professional integrity, and able to adapt to new challenges in a dynamic environment while handling multiple projects 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with management-level professionals 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Strong quantitative aptitude 
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future need for immigration sponsorship

The expected salary range for this position is 90-100k. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
