The Opportunity
The Underwriting Data Analytics Consultant is responsible for delivering ongoing analysis and reporting on client, policy, exposure, and loss information—turning data from multiple, non-standardized sources into accurate insights, tools, and management-ready reports that support underwriting decision-making and performance across Underwriting Analytics. This is an exciting opportunity to build and enhance analytical tools and BI reporting while partnering with stakeholders to solve complex, data-intensive problems and drive measurable impact through better underwriting insights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop analytical and reporting datasets to support financial and strategic data-driven decision making
  • Pull and compile data from multiple, non-standardized sources
  • Recognize data issues and work with providers of data to resolve problems
  • Generate standard and ad hoc reports on a regular basis
  • Develop and support new analytical tools and reports
  • Provide consulting, training, and technical support as need for data intensive projects

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics or related field; or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 3-5 years of analytical experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced SQL (query optimization, building reusable datasets/views, working across multiple source systems)
  • Experience with data modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling) and translating business questions into metrics/KPIs
  • Strong Power BI skills (DAX, Power Query/M, semantic models, performance tuning, deployment/governance)
  • Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration tools (e.g., SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Fabric Data Pipelines)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Azure/Fabric ecosystem (Lakehouse/Warehouse, OneLake, notebooks, dataflows, CI/CD)
  • Programming in Python or R for analysis/automation (pandas, statsmodels, notebooks)
  • Experience with data quality practices (validation rules, reconciliation, monitoring, root-cause analysis)
  • Knowledge of data governance/security concepts (PII handling, access controls, documentation/lineage)

 

The expected salary range for this position is $78,000 - $104,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
