The Team You Will Join

The Opportunity

As part of the Market Risk team within the Global Risk Management organization, the Market Risk Actuary will be responsible for the ongoing management and advancement of Replicating Portfolio (RP) and other ALM and risk management models which analyze impacts on GAAP, Stat and Economic views.

RP is a proxy liability model to estimate how economic liability changes under different market environments and generate insightful data for ALM and risk management decisions. The Market Risk Actuary will work with ALM departments globally and BlackRock to ensure RPs are calibrated and performing as expected. Additionally, the Market Risk Actuary will complete development of new RP and make further advancement using AI / ML methods.

The Market Risk Actuary will also maintain and enhance other ALM and risk management models with AI or through automation. Additionally, this role will support the AVP & Actuary in Market Risk team in strategic initiatives for market risk management. 


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the current RP model on a quarterly basis and evaluate RP performance
  • Lead the transition of the RP model to Python and enhance capabilities using AI/ML techniques.
  • Manage and improve ALM and risk management models through automation and advanced analytics.
  • Support Market Risk governance activities, including working groups and committee operations.
  • Conduct risk analysis and provide insights for strategic business initiatives.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, finance, or a related quantitative field.
  • ASA or FSA actuarial designation.
  • Strong modeling and programming skills, including Excel and languages such as Python, VBA, R, or C++.
  • Deep knowledge of statistics, optimization, valuation, and AI/ML techniques.
  • 5+ years of experience with exceptional analytical, mathematical, and organizational capabilities.

 


Preferred Qualifications
  • Intermediate understanding of insurance risk management and ALM practices, derivative products, insurance products, and investment assets
  • Educational background or experience in Statutory accounting and solvency reporting in any jurisdiction
  • Experience of process automation

 


Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.

 

The expected salary range for this position is $116,300 - $155,100. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
