The Fixed Income Index Strategies team is a department within MIM’s Public Fixed Income organization. The small team manages approximately $11 billion of fixed income assets across 20 distinct investment mandates for internal and external clients.  This analyst position will support the Fixed Income Index Strategies team in analysis and reporting for MetLife's US separate accounts and MetLife Investment Management (MIM) clients.  

 

The analyst will be an investment professional supporting the Index Strategies team in the creation, execution, and management of multiple client portfolios.  The analyst will also support administrative, marketing, and client-based projects related to the Index Strategies team.  This role provides candidates with the opportunity to work and interact with various teams across MIM. The small investment team offers an analyst the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while being trained by seasoned investment professionals.  Analysts benefit from on-the-job training, online development tools and a culture that encourages continuing education.   

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and coordinate materials related to fund investment management. Confirm and verify data and information. This involves thorough and in-depth reviews to ensure data is presented accurately and consistently to internal and external parties.
  • Compiling daily cash activity into a consolidated tool, analyzing activity to help coordinate trading plans. Liaison with various custody-banks to cure data and trade discrepancies.
  • Process and compile data, provide accurate reporting for internal monitoring purposes including position reconciliation, risk management and performance attribution.
  • Compiling daily performance data from various custodian platforms and trading systems to provide daily reports and commentary to the portfolio managers.  
  • Identify opportunities to expand the use of digital and technological innovations to enhance the portfolio management platform and improve reporting efficiencies. 
  • Develop into an integral partner of a small asset management team within MIM’s asset management business.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required: 

  • Basic knowledge of fixed income required
  • Strong quantitative and technical skills
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented and able to prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to work effectively with others across multiple departments, teams and levels

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, or Finance preferred
  • Preferable experience with VBA

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $104,000 - $115,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
