The Team You Will Join 

The Group Benefits (GB) organization is responsible for the strategic direction, growth, and ongoing management of MetLife’s industryleading U.S. employee benefits business. Within this organization, the Disability and Absence business is one of the largest in the industry, offering LongTerm Disability, ShortTerm Disability, Paid Family and Medical Leave, and Absence Management Services.

The Opportunity 

The Director will serve as the pricing leader for Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML) products and as a key strategic partner supporting the full suite of Disability and Absence offerings. This role blends deep technical pricing expertise, advanced analytics, and strategic leadership to influence product design, underwriting decisions, and portfolio performance.

The Director will provide pricing leadership and support to senior executives, product leaders, finance partners, and MetLife’s Group Underwriting organization, while owning experience analysis, advancing pricing capabilities, and driving innovation across the Disability and Absence product landscape.

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)

  • Lead pricing analyses and experience studies for the in‑force block and new product development, leveraging actuarial methodologies and advanced analytics
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive competitive differentiation, optimize market positioning, and support long‑term growth objectives
  • Maintain, enhance, and govern pricing and underwriting tools, ensuring alignment with experience, strategy, and evolving market conditions
  • Define, communicate, and monitor underwriting and pricing strategies, partnering with stakeholders to ensure consistent execution and strong portfolio outcomes
  • Provide pricing leadership and technical guidance on the largest and most complex case‑level underwriting decisions
  • Lead pricing initiatives that directly support Group Benefits strategic objectives, including growth, profitability, and risk management
  • Perform risk and financial analysis across Disability and Absence products, partnering with Product, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Valuation, and Operations to understand drivers of underwriting results and financial performance
  • Apply data‑driven insights to support continued product development and innovation in the Disability and Absence space

What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

  • 10+ years of actuarial experience, including significant experience in pricing leadership roles
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage data and analytics to generate strategic insights that influence market strategy, pricing decisions, and business outcomes
  • Deep expertise in pricing methodologies, experience analysis, and underwriting support
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence across levels and functions
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire stakeholders in a highly collaborative, cross‑functional environment
  • An innate curiosity paired with a strong commercial and strategic mindset

What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)

  • Strong technical background with hands‑on experience using SQL and/or Alteryx to support pricing and experience analysis
  • Experience with regulatory filings and pricing governance
  • Background in predictive modeling or advanced analytics
  • Prior experience in Disability or Absence pricing and/or valuation
Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $139,700 - $180,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
