The Opportunity 

The Bridge Technical Claims Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and coaching to disability claims professionals. Guided by our purpose – always with you building a more confident future – and our New Frontier strategy focused on stronger growth, attractive returns and all-weather performance, this is an exciting opportunity to partner with the LTD Unit Leader to ensure that individual team members and the team meet all key performance indicators.  The STD/LTD Bridge Team Technical Claim Specialist acts as a resource for any claim-related and technical issues as an individual contributor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead operational excellence and continuous improvement efforts by partnering with Unit Leaders to drive individual, team, and overall OKR performance, serving as a subject matter expert for claims processes, procedures, and risk‑based decision making.
  • Create actionable insights, training materials, and improvement plans by analyzing quality results, exceed authority reviews, QA proficiency scores, and performance data, translating findings into targeted coaching, training, and measurable outcomes.
  • Oversee claim quality, financial accuracy, and decisional integrity through exceed authority, quality, block, and inventory reviews, ensuring consistent application of policies, procedures, and risk management standards across teams and sites.
  • Manage team performance and development activities, including coaching complex claim handling, supporting onboarding and mentoring, conducting regular 1:1 discussions, monitoring metrics, and addressing opportunities that impact productivity, quality, and customer experience.
  • Develop disability claims professionals through structured feedback, individualized coaching, in‑service training, and ongoing education on new or updated procedures, while reinforcing proficient behaviors and supporting overall capability growth.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional and cross‑site collaboration with Unit Leaders, business consultants, training partners, systems teams, and peers to resolve discrepancies, support multidisciplinary claim discussions, align on best practices, and ensure consistent, accurate claim administration.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of management and project management experience demonstrating strong leadership, coaching skills and planning and organizational skills 
  • Extensive knowledge of IDI, STD, LTD, group disability, Workers Compensation, ERISA, Social Security and state laws 
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a focus on producing results 
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and the ability to think outside the box 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both verbal and written form 
  • Excellent customer service skills proven through internal and external customer interactions  
  • Demonstrated conceptual thinking, risk management, ability to handle complex situations effectively 
  • Organizational and time management skills 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple systems and technology resources  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • 10+ years of LTD Insurance Claims experience
The expected salary range for this position is $64,800 - $86,400. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
