The Opportunity

The Compliance Consultant is an individual contributor supporting the Head of MLH Compliance, the VP Group Benefits Compliance and US CRM organization, enabling operational effectiveness across the functions.  The Compliance Consultant is responsible for overseeing and managing compliance risks while enabling operational effectiveness across MetLife Holdings (MLH) and Group Benefits in the United States, serving as a trusted advisor to ensure regulatory adherence and a strong control environment. Guided by our purpose – always with you building a more confident future – and our New Frontier strategy focused on stronger growth, attractive returns, and all-weather performance, this role offers the opportunity to influence key compliance strategies across Annuity, Life, Long-Term Care, and other insurance product lines. This is an exciting opportunity to partner closely with business leaders, deliver credible compliance challenges, and drive continuous improvement in a dynamic, evolving regulatory landscape.


Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with business leaders and cross-functional partners while advising on compliance and providing credible challenges
  • Stay abreast of changes in the regulatory environment and business initiatives, analyze impacts, and proactively guide teams on required compliance actions
  • Conduct risk-based testing and monitoring activities of the control environment to effectively measure compliance risks, identify areas of improvement, and recommend control enhancements
  • Support effective issue management by driving timely identification, escalation, remediation, and reporting of compliance risks and breaches
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen controls, enhance oversight programs, including Third-Party Administrator (TPA) oversight, and communicate compliance findings to leadership

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years in financial services or insurance, including compliance, legal, risk, operations, or audit
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve complex issues independently
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented professional able to work both independently and collaboratively, with strong communication and sound judgment
  • Proactive, strategic thinker with a high degree of professionalism and focus on achieving goals
  • Curious mindset with commitment to continuous learning, including development of AI and digital capabilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree preferred (JD or MBA) and/or relevant financial or insurance industry certifications
  • Familiarity with life and annuity insurance products preferred
  • Understanding of company operations, systems, transactions, and/or financial products and services is a plus

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.

 

The expected salary range for this position is $78,000 - $104,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
