The Team You Will Join
You will join the Small/Mid-Size business segment team within MetLife’s U.S. Business, supporting the Regional Business in Group Benefits. This team enables strategy execution, growth, and operational excellence for Small and Mid-Market employers (U1000 lives). The role partners closely with Regional Business leadership, product, distribution, finance, technology, and enterprise strategy teams.
The Opportunity
The AVP – Strategy and Planning, Small and Mid-Market leads strategy design, planning, and execution for the U1000 segment with Regional Business and US Group Benefits. This role serves as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leadership and plays a critical role in shaping growth strategies, launching new solutions, and enabling the scaling of MetLife’s Small Business Solutions (SBS) platform profitably. Success in this role requires strong strategic thinking, execution discipline, familiarity working with AI tools, Executive and Senior leader presence and the ability to influence across a highly matrixed organization.
- Identify new partnership opportunities and lead execution/launch of new partnerships.

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Lead strategy design and mobilization for Small and Mid-Market employers under 1000 employees.
- Drive cross-functional strategic assessments and high-potential market opportunity analyses.
- Identify new partnership opportunities and seed business development initiatives.
- Develop business cases and financial models to launch new solutions, including identifying fail-fast opportunities.
- Lead delivery of in-market initiatives that impact sales, partnerships, and revenue growth.
- Own U100 distribution activation and customer migration strategies onto SBS and related platforms.
- Identify and pilot AI-enabled use cases to drive business growth and efficiency.
- Drive the annual planning cycle and align initiatives with enterprise and business strategies.
- Create dashboards, management routines, and executive communications for senior leadership.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field, Master’s Degree preferred
- 8+ Years Experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, planning, business transformation, or related leadership roles.
- Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven ability to lead and influence across sales, product, operations, finance, and technology.
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior and executive leadership.
- Familiarity using AI tools in day-to-day workflows
- Prior experience in Financial Services and/or Insurance
What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)
- Experience in insurance, financial services, or group benefits especially in a Management Consulting setting at a top-tier consulting firm or Corporate Strategy at a large enterprise
- Familiarity with Small Business or Mid-Market platforms and distribution models.
- Hands-on exposure to analytics, or digital product enablement
- Hands-on exposure to AI tools such as Claude, Replit, Cursor etc. - you have built tools/solutions/products using AI tools and/or use AI tools in day-to-day life and work
- Strong executive storytelling and presentation skills.
