The Opportunity
As part of the MetLife Europe audit team and reporting into the Audit Director, the Internal Auditor position is expected to effectively deliver and participate in key strategic, regional and country level internal audits, including audits of: Operations, Finance, Compliance, Risk Management, and various other functional processes as needed, as well as any other audits required by regulators or the MetLife Europe Board. The role also includes country level relationship management responsibilities, including maintaining effective communication with senior in-country and regional leaders and preparing and presenting documents for the local Risk, Audit and Compliance Committees. The role holder will ideally help drive the use of data analytics across the broader EMEA audit team.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities):
- Assist the Audit Director and/ or Head of Internal Audit in the detailed planning of individual project audit engagements;
- Execute audit assignments and projects as part of a team, or independently for less complex or routine activities and projects;
- Effectively communicate audit findings and develop resolutions with key stakeholders within Internal Audit and business management;
- Prepare reports of audit findings for business managers, and propose recommendations for changes as needed;
- Track and follow up on open issues and key business initiatives;
- Consult with clients on implementing project management improvements and good practice;
- Participate in and manage audit projects, completing assigned tasks and responsibilities within the assigned budget and timeline, and explaining variances;
- Assist the Audit Director and/ or Head of Internal Audit in preparing presentations and reports for senior audiences and Audit Committees;
- Maintain a positive working relationship with auditees and stakeholders;
- Maintain an ongoing relationship with key business contacts, keep abreast of changes to the business.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree required. Certified or actively pursuing as a CPA, CIA, ACA or ACCA designation is an advantage;
- Experience in the Claims, Underwriting, Operations, Risk and Compliance functions of an Insurance company represents an advantage;
- 2-3+ years audit/ finance experience, public accounting and financial service industry experience preferred. Experience working in financial services industry with a focus on Insurance, is a plus;
- Fluent English, both speaking and writing. Additional European languages (Italian, French or Spanish) are beneficial, but not essential;
- Excellent in oral and written communication and presentation skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills to deal with all levels of staff;
- Natural curiosity and critical thinking;
- Competent knowledge of generally accepted audit standards, IIA standards and Corporate Internal Audit standards;
- Complete understanding, knowledge, and demonstrable experience of the full audit lifecycle from planning to close out, including documentation, report writing and analytical and problem solving skills;
- Strong data analytics skills and knowledge of CAATs and ACL techniques are beneficial;
- Willingness to travel (about 15%). Travel required throughout the MetLife Europe Region;
- EU national, or visa equivalent to work in the EU.
