The Data & AI Governance Lead is responsible for leading the implementation of Data Governance and Responsible AI frameworks across the region, ensuring alignment with MetLife’s global standards, ethical principles, and regulatory requirements.

You will play a critical role in enabling innovation while ensuring integrity, transparency, and risk mitigation across data and AI initiatives in Latin America.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and execution of Data Governance and Responsible AI programs across Latin America
• Create and deploy policies, standards, and frameworks to ensure ethical, secure, and compliant use of data and AI
• Oversee the lifecycle of AI models and data assets, evaluating risks related to bias, privacy, security, and transparency
• Manage alignment with global strategies and partner with Enterprise teams to ensure consistency in governance practices
• Develop monitoring frameworks to assess responsible AI usage and recommend mitigation actions when needed
• Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with Technology, Data, Strategy, Operations, Risk, Legal, Privacy, and Compliance teams
• Promote a culture of responsible data and AI usage through training, communication, and awareness initiatives
• Drive continuous improvement of data governance processes leveraging emerging technologies and best practices

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or related fields, applying technical expertise to data governance and AI initiatives
• Strong experience in data management, data governance, or analytics roles, leading complex data and AI programs end-to-end
• Proven experience implementing AI/ML governance frameworks or model risk management, ensuring ethical and responsible AI practices.
• Strong understanding of AI ethics, fairness, transparency, and regulatory considerations, particularly in high-impact decision-making environments
• Ability to balance innovation with risk mitigation, applying structured governance approaches across complex ecosystems
• Advanced English and Spanish proficiency, enabling collaboration with global and regional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in highly regulated industries such as financial services or healthcare, applying governance frameworks in complex environments
• Background in technology risk management and emerging AI regulations
• Familiarity with global Responsible AI frameworks (e.g., OECD, NIST, UNESCO) and their practical application
• Experience working in global organizations with mature data governance practices
• Strong communication and storytelling skills to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
• Experience leading cultural transformation or large-scale technology adoption initiatives
• Hands-on experience with Data Governance tools and metadata management platforms
