Today, we continue this series with a behind-the-scenes look into the world of Aarti Arora, Director of Actuarial Services, based in Delhi, India. She sits within MetLife’s Global Capability Center (MGCC), where teams support our core insurance operations, technology services, and more across markets worldwide – making it a hub for innovation, collaboration, and global impact. Aarti has built her career by leaning into growth – advancing through five roles in over nine years, diving into new technical domains, leading large-scale implementations, and earning one of MetLife’s prestigious recognitions, the Global Chief Actuary Award. Meet Aarti, Director, Actuarial Services
For Aarti, actuarial science began with a simple foundation: a passion for math.
“My love for mathematics was the driving force behind my decision to pursue actuarial science. There's something incredibly thrilling about solving a new business problem every day. The constant challenge and the opportunity to find solutions to complex issues keeps me motivated and excited about my work.”
Her role today blends technical expertise with strategic thinking as she leads modeling efforts for Middle Eastern markets under frameworks like IFRS17, VNB, and LDTI.
“Being an actuary in a modeling and implementation team is undoubtedly a challenging yet incredibly rewarding role. It involves a fascinating combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and collaboration with various departments such as IT, Reporting, Finance, and Accounting.”
Taking on Big Challenges – and Earning Big Recognition
Some of Aarti’s most defining career moments came from stepping into complex work – and finding her stride.
“One of the most memorable experiences was the ALS migration from Kamakura to Prophet ALS...It gave me the opportunity to present my work to MetLife’s Global Chief Actuary and his leadership team."
Another growth period: joining a new team while racing to meet regulatory deadlines.
“When I joined the RIS modeling team, I was completely new to the process. I was learning the ropes while meeting tight regulatory deadlines and building a team from scratch. There was a period when I was handling multiple individual tasks. The support from my leaders throughout this journey was invaluable. They recognized my efforts and hard work, and I was honored with the Global Chief Actuary Award, one of MetLife’s most prestigious accolades. This recognition not only validated the effort I put into overcoming these challenges, but also made the entire experience incredibly rewarding."
