MetLife is proud to be certified as a Great Place to Work® and this time, across 33 markets!
While this recognition is meaningful, what makes it truly resonate is how it reinforces what makes MetLife so great –working alongside amazing people who care deeply about their work, their communities, and each other.
Being surrounded by purpose-driven people – those connected by a shared mission and driven to make a difference – makes the day to day more than just work. And here, purpose shows up throughout the organization. Whether it’s supporting customers through life’s twists and turns, championing local communities, advancing sustainability goals, or caring for one another along the way, our work has meaning.
Supporting Communities with Time, Trees, and Investment in the Future
In 2020, MetLife set out with an ambitious goal: to reach 500,000 employee volunteer hours globally by the end of its previous company strategy in 2025. Thanks to the incredible dedication of our people, we hit that milestone by the close of 2024! Now, as we move into our next five-year growth strategy, New Frontier, another 500,000 volunteer hours are in sight by 2030.
Lives are also honored in a lasting way through the MetLife Legacy Trees™ initiative in the U.S. and Nepal. For every Group Life Insurance benefit paid, a tree is planted in memory of the insured–providing clean air, reducing erosion and flooding, and serving as a living memorial for loved ones.
Beyond these efforts, we're also committed to protecting the planet. MetLife is a proud investor in the Blue Revolution Fund, a sustainability-focused aquaculture impact fund backing early-stage ventures aimed at improving ocean health and strengthening coastal communities.
Meeting Customers Where They Are–with Empathy and Innovation
Purpose takes many forms when it comes to caring for our customers. In Korea, dementia insurance was enhanced to include coverage for mild dementia, providing greater peace of mind for patients and their families. In Chile, Cancer 360 was launched to help individuals navigate parts of care that often go uncovered, offering more holistic support at a critical time.
Through MetLife 360Health, customers are empowered to expand their “healthspan” with solutions that address mental, physical, financial, and social well-being. Delivered through a mobile app, the program has reached more than 1.3 million users across Australia, Bangladesh, China, Korea, Nepal, and the United Arab Emirates.
And sometimes purpose shows up in the small things. For instance, we’ve tied tree-planting initiatives to moments like customers choosing paperless communication or enrolling in a product, turning simple choices into a positive impact. We even plant a tree in employees' names to commemorate their work anniversaries!
Caring for Each Other, Every Step of the Way
That same spirit of care extends to our colleagues. Customer Care associates often speak with people navigating life’s challenging moments, from the loss of a loved one to serious illness. These conversations are meaningful, but they can also take a toll. To provide support, Thrive Resets were introduced in the U.S. and Japan: brief, science-backed interventions to help employees decompress after emotionally difficult calls.
We’re also promoting well-being more broadly through the global BeWell initiative, which connects colleagues to flexible ways to recharge and stay well, across mental, physical, and emotional health. The program includes everything from leadership tools to individual support, making everyday well-being easier to access. In the U.S., colleagues can participate in mindfulness programs through eMindful, while employees in 16 markets receive free access to a mental health app focused on sleep, meditation, and relaxation.
Across 21 markets, we also continue to offer employee assistance programs and virtual mental health care–because making support available when and where it’s needed truly matters.
When your values align with the people around you, work feels different. More connected. More energizing. More meaningful.
At MetLife, that difference shows up every day–in how we show up for our customers, for one another, and for the world around us.
Thank you to our colleagues across the globe who make MetLife not just a certified Great Place to Work, but a place where purpose and people come together, every day.
