The Team You Will Join 


Employee Relations is a specialized team within Human Resources that supports People Leaders and Employees with work environment issues. Our team acts as a steward of MetLife's culture to create a safe, impartial, and objective environment where concerns are managed with the utmost discretion. The Opportunity 


The EMEA Regional Employee Relations Consultant is responsible for coordinating and conducting thorough, fair and impartial investigations into allegations of workplace misconduct and plays a critical part in maintaining a safe and respectful work environment at MetLife across EMEA. This is an exciting opportunity to join a global team and operate as the point of contact in the region for the Employee Relations function. 
 
Success in this role requires 8-10 years of employee relations or human resources generalist experience and at least five years of investigator experience or two years of experience in a dedicated investigator role.  You’ll collaborate closely with other regional ER consultants, managers, HRBPs, legal counsel and other internal investigative units. 
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)


  • Cultivate a high level of trust with customers across the region and collaborate with internal partners (e.g., HRBP, IT, Compliance, GIU, Legal) and outside counsel as appropriate. 
  • Provide effective service, support, consultation and resolution of complex ER inquiries and issues and conduct and document comprehensive and timely investigations into employee complaints, reports of potential misconduct, and alleged policy violations with the appropriate level of discretion, following established processes and guidelines. 
  • Prepare detailed written reports summarizing allegations, findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Maintain accurate records of all investigative actions taken, communications made, and evidence collected.
  • Facilitate training to associates and managers in support of employee relations strategy and to address trend concerns. 
  • Engage in global investigations team workstreams to drive projects and initiatives to completion.


What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

  • 8-10 years of employee relations or human resources generalist experience, including 5+ years of investigation experience or 2+ years experience in a dedicated investigator role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, or equivalent experience 
  • Knowledge of local employment laws and regulations in order to provide solutions that minimize risk. 
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct multiple formal investigations simultaneously, involving all levels of interaction and providing appropriate recommendations to senior business leaders and to interpret and apply policies and regulations to a wide variety of situations in the business environment. 
  • Excellent consultative, listening, and verbal/written communication skills; ability to influence, negotiate and convey recommendations and opinions persuasively. 
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred; EthicsPoint and Oracle HRIS experience a plus.
