Role Value Proposition:   Chief Information Officer - Bangladesh, will report to the Chief Information Officer, GTO Asia Region and the Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh. This is a critical role for the organization that will drive cultural change and major technology advancement. The individual will be responsible for motivating and managing local staff and major vendor relationships and building strong business partnerships.

   

Key Responsibilities:

Drive values and culture of Information Technology

  • Build an engaged collegial culture where everyone contributes to organizational goals. 
  • Act as a motivational leader who is execution focused.
  • Take responsibility for the organization and identify hurdles and challenges and plan for the future. Move team forward to focus on operational efficiencies and new processes that will deliver the business plan

 

Building and leading a high performance team:

  • Build trust and credibility with staff
  • Transform the quality and speed of delivery of the Bangladesh IT organization by upgrading and developing talent where needed 
  • Develop strong team cohesion and a healthy team culture.
  • Through empowerment, set business aligned goals and deliver results by building a team with diverse skills

 

Application development and methodology:

  • Move from an order taking mentality to building a long term business partnership 
  • Focus on efficiency and quality improvement through the automation of technology process (DevOps)
  • Accelerate delivery speed and customer centric solutions through Agile adoption
  • Work with third party development vendors and manage relationships where applicable.

 

Build relationships with global and regional peer and business leaders:

  • Develop strong relationships with local LOB leadership.
  • Work across the firm, partnering as appropriate to deliver on the Bangladesh Plan 
  • Develop strong relationships and build credibility amongst peers and across the enterprise

 

IT strategy:

  • Working with the Bangladesh leaders, create a tech roadmap that aligns to and drives the Bangladesh Plan and also addresses all control issues
  • Adhere to architectural and security standards. 
  • Look to reuse solutions where appropriate 
  • Define the Bangladesh resource requirements best suited to support the strategy, including timeline and expected budget. 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 15+ years relevant experience with at least 5 years as a senior IT executive gained within a multinational
  • Experience in application development and systems integration with a global footprint.
  • Experience working in an agile environment within a global/multi-national IT environment
  • Experience managing outsourced technology resource
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry or a related complex high transaction environment.
  • Ability to coordinate activities and decisions among multiple teams in different locations and cross-functional decision makers in Bangladesh.
  • Ability to create and present business cases with cost, benefit and risk analysis to the C-level executives and to help them make decisions and to obtain necessary funding for IT projects and initiatives.
  • A strong technologist with a deep understanding of similar IT environments.
  • An innovative and strategic thinker who can solve tough business and technology problems with practical solutions.  
  • Relevant work experience having worked in Bangladesh or nearby region
  • Ability to drive action through influence and work across the broader MetLife team
  • Has a relevant and consistent track record of repeated business successes
  • Strong business thinker who can contribute significantly beyond the IT function to facilitate and contribute to growth of the business.
