The Sales Support Associate (SSA) is a critical part of the Retail Sales Team working closely with the State and Sales Managers to drive execution of growth via targeted sales plans with high value and adviser practices across Australia. The role is responsible for managing and implementing our engagement strategies and calendar of events in their location as well as acting as the contact point for MetLife’s adviser stakeholders for all sales related queries, training and events. 

 

  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Work with the State and Sales Managers to provide administration support and training to adviser stakeholders on MetLife’s products, systems and processes to increase sales to MetLife. 
  • Supporting adviser stakeholders across quoting and application processing. 
  • Suspense management (where the item in suspense is delayed due to the adviser/practice). 
  • State based reporting and analysis. 
  • State based coordination and implementation events such as Friday Forums, PD Days and Conferences (leveraged from Marketing, Advice and Licensee strategic plans). 
  • Personal assistant support to the Chief Distribution Officer by way of inbox, diary, travel and expense management. 

 

 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills

 Required Experience 

  • Deep knowledge of retail insurance products and how they are underwritten.
  • Strong customer service focus and enjoys helping people and delivering great service. Able to problem solve and goes above and beyond what is required every time.  
  • Expert at using data to identify trends and opportunities.  
  • Very high emotional intelligence. Able to develop collaborative relationships with stakeholders (internal and external) and use a range of strategic influencing skills internally to navigate the organisation and successfully align the full resources of MetLife behind the pursuit of our sales objectives.
  • Understanding of the key trends in the life insurance and wealth management industry in Australia.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills. Able to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Able to easily establish and implement plans for self and others.
  • Communicating in a way that is clear, concise, and easily understood; communicating with impact and credibility; influencing others using persuasive arguments; appropriate language, style, and terminology for the situation. 
  • Instinctively curious and constantly identifying new ways to improve and grow the business. Not afraid to speak up and always looking to improve self and others. Actively seeks out new challenge’s loves solving problems.
  • Has a positive work ethic and takes responsibility for their actions. Demonstrates initiative and will do whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • Thrives in a team environment. Adaptable and flexible a broad range of styles.  
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the Financial Services Industry.

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Knowledge of and experience in dealing with insurance quoting systems.
  • Expert user of Excel, including macros.
  • Salesforce experience.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry including how practices and advisers work.
  • Understanding of MetLife’s competitors including key offerings and relationship strategies.

 

 Qualification Required: 

  • RG146 qualification. 
  • Appropriate Tertiary Qualifications (preferably but not essential Business with a major in finance, accounting or financial planning) or desire to study towards one.
