The Opportunity
The Operational Risk Officer will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could impact the organization's operations. This role involves developing and implementing risk management strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the organization's resilience and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Operational Risk Officer will work closely with various departments to promote a risk-aware culture and ensure that operational risks are effectively managed.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Risk Identification and Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential operational risks across the organization. Analyze risk data and trends to determine the likelihood and impact of various risk scenarios.
- Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and action plans to address identified risks. Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure that controls are effectively designed and implemented.
- Policy Development: Create and maintain risk management policies and procedures. Ensure that these policies are communicated and adhered to across the organization.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor the effectiveness of risk management activities and controls. Prepare and present regular risk reports to senior management and the board of directors.
- Incident Management: Lead the investigation and analysis of operational incidents. Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and minimize impact.
- Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions and workshops to raise awareness of operational risks and promote a risk-aware culture within the organization.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the organization complies with relevant regulatory requirements related to operational risk management. Stay updated on changes in regulations and industry best practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously review and improve the organization's risk management framework and processes. Identify opportunities for enhancing risk management practices and tools.
- Audit Coordination: Act as the point of contact for internal and external audits related to operational risk management. Coordinate audit activities, provide necessary documentation, and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
- Data Analysis: Utilize data analytics to identify trends and anomalies that may indicate potential risks or areas of improvement.
- Fraud Prevention: Develop and implement strategies to detect and prevent fraud within the organization.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in operational risk management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex risk scenarios and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to operational risk management.
- Proficiency in risk management software and tools.
