The Analyst will be an integral member of MetLife Investment Management’s Residential Whole Loan Trading team working directly with the Head of Trading Operations. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all aspects of the whole loan trading platform—including trading, due diligence, transaction management, modeling and analytics, portfolio management, internal and external reporting, client allocations, and more. The Analyst will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day operations of the desk, ensuring a high level of quality control, and contributing to the effectiveness and growth of the platform.

  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the Head of Trading Operations and the broader trading team in all facets of residential whole loan trading, from pipeline management through to settlement and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
  • Assist in coordinating client communications, including distributing pipeline updates, responding to client inquiries, and supporting relationship management efforts.
  • Help with database management, data entry, and ongoing updates to ensure integrity of key operational data and analytics.
  • Support transaction management activities, including coordination across internal teams, tracking trade progress, and helping ensure seamless trade execution and settlement.
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Engage in client interactions, supporting relationship management and responding to information requests as needed.
  • Support the allocation process between investors, ensuring accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the whole loan trading team, cross-functional partners, and other departments as needed to support the successful execution of business objectives.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Stay current with industry trends and regulatory developments impacting whole loan trading.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn, proactively seeking opportunities to better understand the team’s processes, systems, and the broader marketplace.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 

Required: 

  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to work with data and perform detailed analysis.
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable interacting with internal teams and external clients.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn; able to take direction and act independently when appropriate.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; familiarity with additional data or analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python, VBA, Power Bi) is a plus but not required.

The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
