The Financial Analyst team sits within MetLife's Alternative Investments department, which is responsible for managing private equity, joint ventures, wholly owned real estate, and leveraged leases. The team plays a crucial role in preparing and reviewing GAAP and STAT accounting and reporting, as well as enhancing systems and processes in a fast-paced work environment.    


The Financial Analyst position is responsible for performing a variety of accounting, supervisory, and project-level functions related to Alternative Investments across multiple regions. This is an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects such as preparing quarterly unaudited and annual audited financials for the Fund of Fund (FOF) portfolio, monitoring FOF cash flow, and handling general partnership accounting. The role offers the chance to contribute to MetLife's purpose by ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting system enhancements.

 

Success in this role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting job responsibilities. The Financial Analyst is responsible for preparing GAAP and STAT footnotes and managing monthly reconciliations. You’ll collaborate closely with various stakeholders in an environment where every contribution is respected, and every perspective is heard.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Lead the preparation of quarterly unaudited and annual audited financials for the Fund of Fund (FOF) portfolio.
  • Create calls/distributions to Limited Partners (LP) and monitor FOF cash flow.
  • Oversee general partnership accounting, including reconciliations and quarterly reporting.
  • Manage new fund setup and monthly reconciliation review.
  • Develop quarterly GAAP and STAT footnotes.
  • Coordinate ad hoc analysis and reporting as requested.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 2-year accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience with equity method accounting preferred.
  • Proficiency with applications like Yardi, PeopleSoft, HFM, Cubus, and Alteryx.
  • Strong communication skills and effective decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work cohesively in a team and independently.

Preferred:

  • Suggested 2 years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Effective decision-making skills and sound judgment.

The expected salary range for this position is $53,000 - $70,700. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
