AVP, Global Technology Strategy and Planning

Location: Cary, NC preferred, or NYC 

The Team You Will Join 

The role of AVP, Technology Strategy and Planning reports to the VP Global Technology Strategy and Operations (GTSO) as a part of the Global Technology (GT) organization in Global Technology & Operations (GTO).

 
The Opportunity 
 
The AVP Technology Strategy and Planning is responsible for driving a variety of important strategic initiatives for Global Technology, including strategic alignment, goal setting and performance insights, governance, budgeting and planning processes, facilitation of management routines including leadership events and site visits, coordination and drafting of executive presentations, and project management of key programs and initiatives, as appropriate. The role requires frequent interaction with senior management within GT and across GTO and other parts of the enterprise. 

 

 
A multi-faceted and dynamic role, the position requires an experienced, dedicated professional who can influence, navigate and build a strong working knowledge of the GT organization to help drive strategic outcomes. This role requires strong analytical and communications skills, the ability to convey information succinctly, and the ability to multitask and operate under fixed deadlines. It is also critical that the individual takes initiative and is able to operate with a high degree of independence, has a desire to lead and influence others, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where every contribution is respected, and every perspective is heard.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
  •  

    Provide Chief of Staff support for GT and GTSO organizations, including facilitation of Town Halls, leadership offsite meetings, management routines and schedules for all key business activities across the organization 
  • Provide strategic direction, assist with tactical planning and execution support across GT in support of global business and enterprise driven initiatives. Handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long-term projects with the urgency of immediate demands
  • Responsible for coordinating the GT planning process and bringing an iterative approach to strategic planning, revisiting group strategy on an ongoing basis and maintains a commercial mindset with a pulse on evolving business and industry trends
  • Work strategically and develop on-going relationships with a wide cross-functional team of partners/stakeholders to ensure the GT and GTSO objectives and goals are achieved
  • Collaborate with partners to design and drive key technology operating metrics and management routines to ensure priorities are met
  • Exhibit the skills to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, the ability to build strong and sustainable relationships and the capability to interact within all levels of the organization
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
  • 10+ years of experience in financial services industry, insurance and/or management consulting, technology and technical experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success in executing and mobilizing large organizations around strategic initiatives within a global company
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, including the ability to build relationships at all levels, be a team player, work cross-organizationally, and lead through influence and by example
  • Demonstrated experience working in technology with a passion for emerging technologies
  • High degree of organizational and structured operating skills; able to prioritize appropriate and keep track of multiple concurrent projects and deliverables
  • Judgment to accurately assess what can be managed directly, what needs to be delegated, and what needs to be escalated; tactical competency to execute accordingly
  • Resourcefulness and ability to creatively and independently get work done through influence and relationships
  • Execution orientation, attention to detail, and bias for action
  • High degree of business and financial acumen combined with analytical mindset and practical approach and ability to make recommendations based on available information
  • Solutions-orientation; perceives and either resolves or escalates risks or obstacles as appropriate
  • Strong synthesis and learning agility; connects dots and thinks strategically about business planning, governance, and solutions
  • Organizational intelligence; able to operate effectively in a complex, matrixed environment
  • Ability to foster and drive organizational change through process optimization, change leadership and the development of a strong network of partners
  • Excellent presentation, written, oral, and relationship-building skills
  • BA/ BS degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred 
 
 
 
 
The expected salary range for this position is $180K to $215K. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
