Role Value Proposition:  

MetLife is looking for an Exchange Engineer/ Microsoft 365 Administrator in Cary, NC. Our technology group manages multiple Messaging Environments globally with roughly 100k mailboxes across multiple domains. We are seeking experienced professionals to join our team and help us build a world-class Global Information Technology organization.  

Key Responsibilities:  

The Exchange Engineer will support Microsoft365 Exchange, on-prem, multi-site, multi-domain messaging server environments.

• Day to day management of Messaging technologies (Exchange, Office 365, SMTP, etc…).
• Provide 2nd/3rd level support as it relates to messaging.
• Automation through PowerShell scripting.
• Identify and streamline existing processes.
• Monitor and respond to issues or service requests reported by the Service Desk and creating and resolving problem tickets for chronic service issues.
• Develop procedures for routine Exchange server maintenance/operations task.
• Troubleshoot Messaging Server issues, working in collaboration with other relevant IT areas and vendor support towards a quick and effective resolution.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 

Required: 

• Overall experience of at least 2+ years.
• Operational Support and systems engineering of Exchange and Microsoft 365 in a large enterprise infrastructure (+20,000 users).
• Experience with Office 365 and hybrid integration into the enterprise.
• Proven functional experience to resolve break/fix scenarios, engaging broader teams as necessary as well as partners, leads and vendors to achieve continuous improvement.
• PowerShell scripting for Exchange and Microsoft 365 administration a must.
• Knowledgeable of Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) and integrated relay solutions.
• Documentation of Exchange/M365 configuration, change and incident management.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with perimeter mail flow via hygiene and security systems.
• MCSA: Office 365.
• 3-5 years of Office 365 work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline preferred or equivalent years of work experience required.
• 2+ years of experience with scripting with Powershell, VB, .net or scripting for Identity Management/Directory Sync.
• Experience with Proofpoint and/or Ironport perimeter security appliances a plus but not required.
