The Team You Will Join
The Retirement Income Solutions (RIS) Business, one of the largest U.S. segments in MetLife, offers a wide variety of products including pension risk transfer products, stable value products, structured settlements, Institutional Income Annuities, UK Reinsurance solutions, Annuity Reinsurance Solutions, Post Retirement Benefit solutions and COLI/BOLI.

 


The Opportunity
Reporting to SVP, head of RIS Risk Solutions, the VP plays a critical role in RIS. The successful candidate will be highly visible within the organization and will be responsible for not only the P&Ls of the newly formed US retail annuity reinsurance business but also the R&D function supporting all RIS businesses to accelerate profitable growth and optimize capital efficiency in alignment with MetLife’s New Frontier strategy. 



How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)

  • Develop, implement and maintain retail annuity reinsurance products:
    • Lead the team including pricing, product and admin functions to be responsible for the P&Ls for the newly formed US retail annuity reinsurance business 
    • Effectively manage complex client relationships
    • Continue to innovate and develop new reinsurance solutions and relationships in the US retail annuity market
  • Collaborate with Corporate reinsurance team and local pricing teams to evaluate and develop and implement reinsurance strategies for RIS businesses, including internal offshore reinsurance and external reinsurance new partnership or recapture 
  • Lead RIS strategic initiatives, including development of new products, strategic partnership with MetLife sidecar entity or other R&D projects for RIS business
  • Liaise with MetLife Investment Management to evaluate strategic alternative investments in RIS portfolios
  • Recruit, manage and coach / develop talent on the Annuity Reinsurance and R&D team


 

What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

  • 15+ years of (re)insurance industry experience
  • Strong business knowledge of US Retail Annuity products
  • Strong knowledge of Statutory, GAAP (as well as IAS), ERISA and capital frameworks in US and Bermuda
  • Strong knowledge of the legal structure of reinsurance contracts.
  • Deep knowledge of the industry, marketplace, and regulatory developments and impact on the business
  • Experience in complex financial structures including modeling and risk management in life and pensions 
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, economics, or related discipline

  • Proven experience in spearheading innovative strategies in reinsurance solutions, pricing methodologies, and market expansion.
  • International work experience with a strong understanding of global reinsurance markets, regulatory environments, and cross-border business dynamics.
  • Track record of leading strategic transformations, including new product development, portfolio optimization, or risk transfer solutions.
  • Strong relationships with global reinsurers, brokers, and regulatory bodies to navigate complex market landscapes effectively.
  • Professional credentials: FSA, FIA or CFA
  • Proven leadership capabilities that grow organizational capabilities, cultivates an engaged culture and effectively manages team deliverables and performance

The salary range for applicants for this position is $213,200 to $284,300 - This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives..
