Summary of Responsibilities: 

 

  • The Senior Manager will work closely with the Head of Product and the Head of HSECI and will be responsible for the development and delivery of the product management and development roadmap for Hostplus.  
  • To proactively lead the end-to-end product management framework, competitor analysis and product design including development of strategies and business solutions for Hostplus.
  • To proactively led the development of our end-to-end proprietary solution proposition suite for Hostplus but also with the product team, working in partnership with the business to identify opportunities to help our clients grow and retain members.
  • Develop strong internal local and global relationships, to seek and leverage the global product development experience of MetLife in a relevant and value add way.
  • Build MetLife’s position as a thought leader in the group insurance market by providing technical product advice, market information, health and community risk trends and product and customer insights to the business and to our clients.
  • Build out a continuous product framework that supports the HSECI model and philosophies. 
  • Lead and development of Product Managers within the team
  • The Senior Manager, Product Solutions will work closely with the Head of Group Product and will be responsible for the development and delivery of the solutions and thought leadership mandate for the group insurance business.  
  • Ownership of the design and delivery of portfolio product solutions to address market events (such as regulatory reform or regulatory responses), changes in the competitive landscape or to address shifting customer needs. 
  • To proactively led the development of our end-to-end proprietary solution proposition suite, working in partnership with the business to identify opportunities to help our clients grow and retain members.
  • Build MetLife’s position as a thought leader in the group insurance market by providing technical product advice, market information, health and community risk trends and product and customer insights to the business and to clients.

 

 

Principal Responsibilities: 

Hostplus

 

  • Clear ownership and leadership of the end-to-end product offering of the Hostplus portfolio, including drafting and approval of policies documents, PDS documents and other product related material. 
  • Ownership and execution of the development of the strategic product roadmap and client specific solutions within the agreed scope (including market research, technical development, opportunity assessment and strategic recommendations)
  • Provide technical guidance and education to claims, underwriting and admin teams to ensure appropriate processes are in place to ensure administration of the product as intended.
  • Day to day management and development of direct reports within the team.
  • Develop and maintain key external relationships.
  • Working with Reinsurers/vendor on product design changes and policy issues. 
  • Developing and managing internal processes and workflows required for the successful management of the reinsurance functions.
  • Product Solutions & Thought Leadership:
  • Responsible for the identification of client and market relevant thematic areas which can drive the product solution focus and thought leadership agenda. 
  • Ownership and execution of the development of the new proprietary solutions within the agreed scope (including market research, technical development, opportunity assessment and strategic recommendations)
  • Responsible for the leadership and execution of the product and risk appetite response (house view) for key industry events or developments and working with clients on implementation. 
  • Responsible for new business origination (prospects) activity and for driving and designing the product response for new market tenders
  • Responsible for bringing global product development and market trends to the local business, translated into meaningful and relevant client insights and recommendations
  • To provide expert knowledge / subject matter expertise on market and competitor offerings, customer trends and developments and health and risk trends (these trends should help informed the strategic direction of product development)
  • Engage and educate clients on emerging commercial opportunities, market developments, portfolio performance and protection needs.
  • Identify and assess early warning indicators that will impact on portfolio performance (at an overall market and client level) across the group insurance portfolio. 
  • Support the business-on-business origination activity, including tenders and assessment of market opportunities 
  • Lead and or manage as a SME on internal projects and initiatives as required. 
  • Preparing the business case relating to product innovation or rationalization of existing products
  • Working closely with the Pricing Actuaries in the team to ensure that pricing and new product features meet MetLife’s return on equity (ROE) requirements and solvency requirements.
  • Working closely with colleagues from the Insurance Products Team and members of the Group Distribution team, and other internal service partners (Finance, IT, Administration), as well as regional and international associates and relevant external parties to ensure that any new product is marketable and can achieve the desired volume and profitability returns.
  • Responsible for bringing global MetLife product development propositions or innovations and market trends to business and to clients in a relevant and meaningful way
  • Maintain expertise and an understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks designed to ensure products are suitable for consumers (LICOP, Group Code).
  • Development of market leading product terms and conditions
  • Execution of any internal projects or initiatives as assigned by the Head of Product 

 

   Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required:

 

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications, 
  • RG146 accredited or, subject to business demands, willing to attain accreditation within 3 months of obtaining role 
  • 5+ years of senior product management experience in insurance/ financial services, together with at least 3 years’ experience in the group insurance product environment.
  • Knowledge of market including:
  1. Working knowledge of the financial services industry including structure, the role of different parties in the superannuation/group insurance value chain, market drivers and current trends.
  2. Understanding of MetLife’s competitors including key offerings and relationship strategies.
  3. Exposure to the industry fund market and key players in the industry fund space.
  4. Ideally, exposure to financial products/services gained through:
  5. Working in the life insurance or financial services industry.
  6. Interacting with group insurance clients preferably industry fund clients.
  7. Broader business and commercial experience.
