MetLife is seeking a Lead Solution Architect to join its regional team focused on core insurance application design and implementation. The Architect is responsible for delivering conceptual and solution designs across LatAm systems portfolio. The architect will primarily be focused on driving modernization and standardization capabilities in policy administration and related ecosystems supporting our life insurance and Major Medical portfolio across our different channels (agency, direct sales and sponsor). The candidate will ensure that all solution architectures and new technology acquisitions are delivered through MetLife’s architectural governance review processes and follow established enterprise reference architectures and standards. The architect will also collaborate with business and development partners to deliver future state architectures for assigned portfolios. 

The ideal candidate will have strong business and technology acumen, having participated previously in the design / implementation of policy admin systems, preferably in the life & annuities business. in order to develop sound architecture solutions that will meet and exceed business needs. Effective communications with IT and Business associates at all levels including senior management will be required. This position may require some travel depending on current assignment.  

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Translate business strategy into solution architectures supporting key capabilities.
  • Develop and communicate key architecture artifacts:
    •  Target state architecture
      • Conceptual and logical enterprise architectures
      •  Roadmaps
    • Reference architecture which includes:
      •   Principles and guidelines
      • Patterns
      • Standards
    • Guides projects delivery by:
      • Definining and executing Proof of Concepts
      • Review development / code and provide guidance to the development team,
      • Provide guidance to business teams.
  • Support/guide solution architects by promoting best practices, using reference architectures, ensuring standardization across solution architectures and reflecting the information and integration architecture strategies in their solutions
  • As a member of the architecture review board, ensures that solution architectures are aligned with the enterprise information and integration.
  • Continuously researches and keeps up with latest trends, emerging technologies, new vendor products, new ways of doing things, assessing their applicability to Metlife and incorporating them into the enterprise information and integration architecture
  • Acts as a project leader and provides work guidance to lower level and project staff, and supervises consulting resources

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Experience designing and implementing core insurance platforms, at least one E2E project. 
  • Experience in modern integration patterns and cloud adoption
    • Experience coordinating / moderating design sessions with business and IT teams
  • 4+ years of experience architecting solutions and / or designing and deploying projects in the problem space
  • Ability to think strategically and apply abstract architectural concepts at an enterprise level
  • Experience using one or more formal architecture frameworks such as FEAF, TOGAF, or Zachman; certification in any of them is a plus
  • Experience working with agile methodologies and knowledge of DevOps
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively convey architectural concepts to business and technology peers as well as senior management.
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills
  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple large, complex projects with minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and/or equivalent work experience, Master’s degree in Computer Science is a plus
  • Full / Native English and Spanish proficiency.
