Driven by Growth

When people think about Finance, they often think about numbers and spreadsheets. But at MetLife, Finance is also about innovation, collaboration, and creating better ways of working. Today, we're hearing from Kasish, a member of MetLife's Global Balance Sheet Controls & Quality Assurance team. She shares her career journey with us, the projects that have inspired her, and how she's helped foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement across Finance.

Meet Kasish, Assistant Manager, Operations

As I approach my seventh year at MetLife Global Capability Center (MGCC) in Noida, my career has evolved from supporting operational excellence initiatives to leading innovation, AI, and citizen development programs that are helping shape how we work in Finance.

Today, my role focuses on strengthening reconciliation quality while also ensuring compliance with global policies and driving consistency across processes. What makes this work meaningful is its global impact. I partner with colleagues across regions and work closely with business and technology teams to ensure quality and control at scale.

Bringing Quality Assurance to Life

Quality assurance is not just about reviewing outcomes—it’s about understanding end-to-end processes, identifying gaps, and enabling improvements. In our team, this means collaborating with technologists and business partners to enhance how reconciliations are performed, monitored, and governed.

This approach moves us beyond control and into continuous improvement, helping teams work more efficiently while maintaining strong financial governance. One way we continue to put that mindset into practice is through our Global Balance Sheet Controls Redesign initiative, where the team identified opportunities to simplify reconciliation and quality assurance processes. As a result, we reduced manual effort, improved consistency, and freed up time for analysis, risk management, and higher-value work.

Driving Innovation Through Upskilling

Alongside my core role, I am both an FMG (Financial Management Group) Ambassador and a MyPath Ambassador. Through these roles, I’ve helped colleagues discover learning opportunities and build new digital skills. I've also had the opportunity to serve on a cross-functional innovation team that brings together Finance employees to solve business challenges and explore AI and automation opportunities.

Another impactful experience has been leading Power Up, a program that helps employees build low-code and no-code solutions. For me, it’s more than a learning program. It’s about empowering us to think differently and have the confidence to turn ideas into solutions. I’ve seen team members develop technology skills and incorporate AI into their everyday work, and seeing colleagues transition from learners to creators has been one of the most rewarding aspects of the program.

Innovation in Action

Innovation within Finance at MetLife is truly employee-driven. Throughout my journey, I've seen firsthand how employee ideas can lead to meaningful improvements across Finance. One example is the Finance AI Competition, which generated more than 280 AI and automation ideas from employees. Many of those ideas focused on revamping processes, reducing manual work, and creating more efficient ways of working. It also reinforced what's possible when employees are given the space to share, test, and build on new ideas.

A Personal Journey of Growth

My journey as an ambassador started with a passion for learning and contributing beyond my core role. Over time, it has helped me:

  • Build new technical and problem-solving skills
  • Gain leadership exposure
  • Collaborate with diverse global teams
  • Support others in their learning journeys

Along the way, I have been fortunate to participate in experiences that expanded my perspective and accelerated my growth. One opportunity was serving as a reverse mentor, where I shared perspectives on AI, emerging technologies, and the evolving digital landscape with senior leaders. The experience reinforced the idea that innovation thrives when people at all levels learn from one another.

Another meaningful milestone was a career conversation with Bill Pappas, EVP and Head of Global Technology and Operations. Our discussion reinforced the importance of pursuing work that aligns with your passions, focusing on what matters most, and embracing innovation responsibly.

The most rewarding part of my career journey has been seeing ideas turn into impact, whether that’s helping a colleague build their first solution, enabling a team to automate a manual process, or supporting initiatives that create value across the organization. Knowing our work can make a tangible difference for others continues to inspire me every day.

For anyone looking to grow their career in an environment that values innovation, collaboration, and meaningful impact, this is an exciting place to be.
